02 Tahoe Z71. Currently automatic trans won't shift right

Hi all! Chevy noob frrm 4runner world. My 02 Tahoe Z71 flex fuel started not wanting to shift into 3rd gear, auto trans, unless it really revs up to like 3k, won't shift. Let off the gas a little so it'll shift, nothing it'll eventually shift, but then wants to run at like 3k rpm at 45 mph. Should I replace the trans filter and see if that helps?

check your VSS to see if it's malfunctioning...Very rare for OEM speed sensors but not for aftermarket (they are all junk)...If the VSS is functioning and your speedometer gauge in the cluster is also working, pull the unit for overhaul...Your 3-4 clutch pack is smoked.

Well that's not what I wanted to hear. But, she has sat for prolly 18 months. I put a new battery in it, made sure the fluids were all good, and it fired right up. The only reason I got it running was because of the wife's car getting totaled, now I'm down to the Harley.... Thanks!

I lost 3/4 due to a cooler line blow at highway speeds. I changed the fluid and filter, and drove it around town with no issues for over 2 years. Just lock it in 2nd gear. Highway speeds at 55-60 can be attained, but your revs are up... can still get you around until you can save up.
