01 Tahoe, won't start won't crank

I have a 2001 Tahoe and have another problem to add to the ever growing list of issues and quirks.

Truck has ran and started fine since I first got it. Today I turned the truck off to go in the house. Came back out and went to start it; nothing. No cranking, no clicking, no nothing. Battery has a good charge, alternator is basically new. All the dash lights come on, everything works. Just won't start.

Any idea where to begin troubleshooting this issue?

Make sure it's not something stupid like making sure the truck is in park. Check all fuses. Maybe wait a while for the truck to cool, I've had a bad starter that wouldn't start if the truck was warm and I'd have to wait 30 mins+.

Done, done, and done. Wiggled the shifter, tried it in P and N, waited for the truck to cool. Has sat over 8 hours now and still no start.

Would any other fuses/relays be the cause?

I want to say it's your starter but that's just a guess. Maybe you can try testing the starter, something like this or google 'starter test'-

Even though you stated "checked all fuses", it's alot of fuses and one could be overlooked. The one in particular that can cause your symptoms is the "CRANK" fuse located in the fuse panel on the left side of the instrument panel. At least it's there on the 2002. 10Amp fuse I believe. check it's seated properly if it looks good. This is the fuse that many people use to bypass to a kill switch. Let us know what you find.

Went and re-checked fuses (Crank fuse as well as the other interior fuses), swapped relays, etc. Still nothing.

Check and make sure you have power at the starter and the trigger wire on the starter relay gets power when the key is turned to start. If all that is good replace the starter.

Hmmm. another easy thing to check is the battery connection. Make sure it's tight. Loose battery connection can allow enough current to power lights, but not enough for starter. Sorry if this was already done, but it seems to be a repeat offender on these forums. Speaking of connections, check ground straps for same reason. Good luck.

All I heard was a clicking noise so I bought a new battery, and new starter. All I get is a loud single click. I can see starter engage, teeth go into the flywheel, but it's like the flywheel won't budge. Tahoe started fine, ran fine, then I shut it off normally and now this

Put a ratchet and socket on the crankshaft pulley bolt and see if you can turn it by hand. If you can't, the motor is locked up (siezed).

Check the IGN A fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box. Should be a 40 amp fuse.
Also check the "CRANK" fuse under the driver's dash area. Should be a 10 amp fuse.

If that checks out ok, look for 12V on pin 85 of the starter relay (under the hood in the fuse.relay box) when the key is in the "crank" position. If you don't have 12V there in crank, then I'd look at the ignition switch or wiring.

Applying a jumper wire between battery positive and pin 87 will crank the starter motor.

Just curious, you said, "has a good charge." Have you tried jumping it? Pretty common that you can have enough to turn all the lights on but not enough to turn the engine over. How was a good charge determined?

If you are getting a "click" then your getting power to the starter...

*Like said before, see if you have power on the signal (smaller) wire when the key is in the crank position
*There is always the super scientific method of smacking the starter with a hammer...
