Hey guys.
I posted a thread a while back about how I wanted to lift up my 2003 Yukon Xl, and make the thing a little meaner.
Well, a year separated from that original idea, I have a much more reasonable game plan.
In an effort to keep my CV angles as friendly as possible, I'm going to run...
Holy cow! an answer that gives me advice to solve the issues and get the result I was hoping for! and he didn't even have to talk down to me like I was a 5 year old!
Thank you man, that sounds like the best option so far. A small key lift, and a small body lift, together for the medium lift...
Thats pretty much all I needed, but I got a lot of people telling me I was dumb on all fronts, so yea, frusterated.
I'm going with a key crank.
Can I drop the differential to solve these problems as kits exist for doing that to my truck? You never answered that question. I'm not trying...
Ok, I'm not gonna lie I'm starting to get a little frusterated here.
No one is problem solving, they're just telling me problems.
I want a solid 3-4 inch lift. This will likely be achieved by keys since smaller lifts are unavailable for my vehicle.
I want to avoid as many problems...
I found a zone 3.5" kit that has the lowered differential. It seems to be exactly what I want/need, is pretty cheap, but isn't made for the older models. Anyone have any alternative ideas?
zone kit for reference...
Thats the thing, realistically this is going to be 80% on road MAYBE 20% off-road. I drive on crappy roads a lot, but by no means will this be an offroad machine. Not a mall crawler by any chance but definitely not a rock crawler either. Most true offroad this will probably see consistently is a...
Do you think adding an extra inch of cranking on a 3 inch suspension lift would be over cranking? I figured that would just put me at a middle range torsion flex
Ok, I get that. This is a 4wd and I was reading that spindles dont exist for 4wd.
Frankly I'm looking to be sitting pretty between 3 and 4 inches. Do you really think a differential drop would be necessary at that height?
Also, I'm going to ask this question again cause no one really...
So I was doing some research and figured out I have the zw7 smooth ride vs the auto ride.
Also, could I put a 2" in the rear and then add z71 coils?
Are there alternatives to the z71's with similar stiffness? $100 a coil is pushing me towards a real suspension lift....
I think I would add...
I'm not looking for a teenage angst "LOOK HOW SMALL MY WEINER IS" truck, just to be clear.
I'm really looking for "beastly" without going overboard.
I think I've decided to go key lift, and if I cant get the height out of it that I want then I'll add a little body lift to it as well. At...
Legit laughing out loud. But yea thats fine by me.
My question with a key lift, which can probably be answered by google but you guys might be more knowledgable, is...
Am I just cranking the Torsion bars? is that what the key is for? or does the key go in and make the torsion bar itself...
Yes this is exactly what I'm looking for. Just curious, what exactly am I checking it for? Just functionality at that height or should I check before that. That truck is pretty much exactly what I want to do.
The reason I dont want the 6 inch is because its just too big for my needs. I dont mind spending the money if a suspension lift will be more durable and functional.
Are there 4 inch lifts for the 4wd? I'm having trouble understanding why the two kits would be different. Sorry for the extreme...
Hmm... I feel like youre subtly telling me to do suspension...
just curious, why couldnt I put a 3 inch suspension lift on there?
also, if I did that, could I turn up the torsion keys after putting in a 3"lift?
I want this thing relatively high up, not rubbing, and relatively...
So I've been looking around and I think keys and spacers will do the trick for what I want.
Questions:
What potential problems would lifting with keys produce?
What is the maximum height I could get out of keys without cranking torsion bars, and how much would adding a small amount of...
I've been doing some reading, would a 3 inch suspension lift with 1.5 inch keys be possible? That way I could lower it if I wanted but I could also have the extra height.
Basically, I want this thing to be as big and mean as possible without completely murdering my fuel efficiency and ride...
Sorry! figured since it was a 4x4 forum that was expected.
Its a 4wd, Tell me where to look (besides the engine obviously) for what you mean by what stock gears. I know what the gears are, but I have no idea where I would find a brand name if thats what youre looking for. Its a 4 speed auto...
Whats up guys, I have recently come into possession of a 2003 Yukon XL 1500 and I want to make it a little more interesting. De-soccer mom it if you will.
I am a total noob when it comes to this stuff, but I have a solid idea of what I'm looking for. I want this thing to be mean looking...
