What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I used one that I got off of Ebay. I pulled the rear interior out to sound deaden, so routing the wires was easy, and I even ran them into the hatch through the factory rubber conduit. Got power from one of the reverse lights. I have heard that some Tahoes may be plug and play with the...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Finally got my backup camera installed. And added about 100 pounds of sound deadening material to the back hatch, cargo area floor, and the area over the rear wheel wells. The camera is great, and I can definitely tell the difference with the sound and vibration while going down the road.

Need help finding front brake hardline

Well, disaster has struck. The mount to block bolts on the driver side loosened up and allowed the header to contact one f the brake hardlines that run along the frame rails on that side. Its a little hard to see in the picture, but you can see the staining on the header where the fluid got...

Engine Swap to stroked 6.0 (408) and general vehicle refurbishment

Thanks Rocket Man! She's running great although, as with most projects like this, I am already looking at doing some more things to the Tahoe. Specifically, I think I need to upgrade the cooling system. I think an aftermarket radiator and fan set up is next. It also needs tires, and I think...

Engine Swap to stroked 6.0 (408) and general vehicle refurbishment

I got the front main seal fixed, and also (finally) tracked down and fixed the transmission line leak. I don't think it'll ever be truly done, but the Tahoe is now completely drive-able, and a real blast on the road. I still have a list of things in my head that I'd like to do to it in the...

Its time for another update... I installed a Morosso Catch Can that is marketed specifically for these vehicles (really just means that it came with a bracket that lines up with some factory bolt holes), and also installed a valve in the line going from the valve cover to the intake. No more...

Transmission Cooler Mount Options in a Tahoe

Shimmyt - Did you figure out where to mount it? I recently put a Derale in my 2010 Tahoe, and I think its the same model. If you are still in need of mounting location ideas, I will try to get some pictures tomorrow. I'd try to describe it but I need to go look at the car before I can even...

Engine Swap to stroked 6.0 (408) and general vehicle refurbishment

Ok, after looking the car over today more closely, there is definitely oil in the exhaust. There is a coolant leak too, which I believe is coming from the rear steam crossover. I'm probably going to pull the intake, and maybe just block off the rear steam crossover. Whatever the case, I am...

No wideband. It could possibly be rich as it is on an initial tune. But I thought it would be a darker color smoke if it were rich? I'll get a video in the morning in light so the color of the smoke is more clear.

Yes, it smokes when warmed up. In fact in that video it was at 210 on the gauge. I'm going to check it in the morning, but if anything I'd say it smoked less when cold. I never thought of it being the cam. Thats interesting. I HOPE that's not the issue as I really don't want to change the...

Engine Swap to stroked 6.0 (408) and general vehicle refurbishment

Today I got the rear main swapped and fitted, with a high degree of confidence that its correct this time (hope I don't jinx myself). I got the transmission back in, and then tinkered with the temperature for a while. It turned out that the fans actually were working. I'm not sure how I...

Engine Swap to stroked 6.0 (408) and general vehicle refurbishment

Well, the purpose of the Milodon oil pan is that the stock one was filthy and my wife said "you can't put that on the new engine" and I said "I'm going to clean it first" and then she gave me a certain look and I went inside to buy a new, clean, oil pan. And since I was getting a new one...

Engine Swap to stroked 6.0 (408) and general vehicle refurbishment

At long last, I was able to work on the Tahoe today! I recently started a new job, and I've been living in a hotel since the end of March, and away from home, so obviously unable to do any work. Today I installed the new head unit, and got the wires run most of the way to the back for the rear...

Yes, the wiring for the fans is stock. I'll have to look into that.

The RPM comes down to about 800 and it is really lopey. I was using HPTuners to monitor fan settings and other parameters.

There may be a better way to do this on the forum without resorting to Youtube, but here is a link to the video of the first start if anyone is interested and has 54 seconds to kill. I think I'll title it "The thrill of victory before the agony of a leaking rear main seal."

Dang it, I forgot about the air-conditioning. I'm going to give this a try tomorrow. I don't think the fans got unhooked, but I think it would be prudent to retrace the harness for them tomorrow. As for the tune...I know that this is a possibility, but I don't know enough to know what is...

When your post popped up I went out and ran my hands around both valve covers. Dry, unfortunately. I also felt around the starter and while the snout is wet, the top seems dry. Unfortunately I don't think I am going to get that lucky. Earlier this evening I also felt around the oil pressure...

Well, good news and bad news... I got the car started today. Its LOUD. Maybe too loud. Although I just have the y-pipe clamped together at the moment. But I think the sound is coming from the front, not necessarily the exhaust, so I'm not sure that getting the permanent Y-pipe is going to...

Here is a shot from today, once I got the intake manifold on. After that picture was taken I installed the alternator, all of the radiator hoses, and my AirRaid CAI. I have to say I was a little disappointing with the AirRaid kit. First, some of the fasteners they sent were the wrong thread...

Engine Swap to stroked 6.0 (408) and general vehicle refurbishment

Alright, time for another update on the progress with this project. I got the engine into the bay back on the 16th. I didn't get started that day until kind of late, and then had to wait for help, but eventually my wife came out to the garage, and it didn't take us to long to get the engine...

    2012 suburban disappointment

I recently pulled my engine as detailed in another thread. The rear bolt on each exhaust manifold was broken. I'm not saying that this is "right" or "acceptable" or "normal" but it does seem to be very common on these vehicles. Similarly to Rocket Man, I'll be using ARP bolts when I put the...

There is one more thing that bears mentioning, and I am putting it in its own post so that it stands out... I purchased a TCI flexplate 399757. It is marked "this side must be toward engine". I installed it the other day as marked, but thought it didn't look quite right. Today I installed...
