Dorman 62340XD engine oil cooler lines "Improved Design"

I never updated this thread, but ordered the GM Genuine version back in the summer. I had been dragging my feet on getting it installed. I finally did it last night. It wasn't that bad at all (2wd tho). Took about an hour. I flushed the radiator since I didn't cap the cooler fittings and was...

03 gmc has a bad battery drain

Probably just coincidence about the door module... especially because you mentioned you swapped the old module back and no change. You need to properly diagnose this. Watch a few videos on parasitic drain. South Main Auto has some good ones...

    strutaeng's 04 2500 4x4 project Suburban

Yes, it's a light gray. I actually ordered the smoke color from that chart so I hope it matches closer the pillar plastics.

    strutaeng's 04 2500 4x4 project Suburban

Does anyone know what the color of the headliner is called? I've been kinda holding off this job because IDK what this is called? But I can't imagine this being any different than anything SUV 2 tone out there from this generation, no...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I did when I swapped the V6 (V6 radiator is the narrower version, maybe 27" IIRC vs 34"?) to V8 on my Silverado. I have yet to add the engine oil cooler lines, still has the little red plugs on the connector on the radiator. SMH. Edit: I think the wider radiator simply bolts to the other set of...

is this bad oil pressure idle

Nothing really jumps out at me on that cluster, except you need to add windshield washer fluid...

Dang! Barely even almost broken-in....

    Waterpump: wait or swap preventatively

I would recommend replacing the heater core quick connects at the firewall. I had one of those fail on my 06 Suburban and it overheated, almost to the red mark. Luckily no damage. This was about 4 years ago and I replaced with OEM. Dorman makes metal replacements now for those. I just installed...

    strutaeng's 04 2500 4x4 project Suburban

I ordered a new cluster (or remanufactured?) from ISS because mine has a parasitic drain. They were on sale and I got the LED light upgrade and lifetime warranty. I still have to fix the auxiliary fuel tank sender, which is why it's saying I'm low on gas. I think the little teeth are messed...

2001 or 2025 for Summer Trips

00-02 SUVs (99-02 Silverado/Sierra) are pretty rock solid. Extremely reliable, simple and very low cost of ownership. Minimal electronics interior (by today's standards) but still convenient. I would say if the vehicle is well maintained, just keep running it. 130,000 miles is honestly pretty...

    Oil pressure issue

Umm. Well, if you found metal flakes, that's never a good sign. You already replaced the pump, and you still have low oil pressure. Pretty sure your bearings are gone (they are the ones that actually dictate oil pressure.) I would say time for a rebuild... You can try removing the pan and...

    Trans Fluid flush

...that doesn't look too good to me. Some residue is okay, but that looks like metal shards. Is that the original transmission? If so, it definitely lasted for a 6 speed unit!

Transfer case or Front End whine/growl.

Yikes. That doesn't look good at all. Maybe a remanufactured front differential is a wise idea. Just make sure you get the correct gear ratio. I wonder if you can isolate the noise to confirm (not that the photo with the metal shards isn't enough proof), like driving it without the front...

2001 Chevrolet Tahoe 5.3 Engine knock - help to identify

That to me sounds rather like rod knock. A lifter tick is a cycle half of the engine RPM, and sounds similar like a diesel. Have you drained the oil for inspection? Look for a glittery sheen on the oils drain pan. Also, remove the oil filter and cut it open to inspect the filter media.

    second or additional trans cooler

The Hayden 678/679 are pretty common upgrades. No need to add a second auxiliary cooler, just replace your factory one. Probably don't want to run a larger unit, because in cold weather, may not allow ATF fluid to warm up. That's probably only in the very cold northern states though. There's no...

    4l60E Compatibility

No. My NBS 99 4.3 had the same 300 mm input shaft and the 12 o'clock LS bellhousing bolt (empty, of course.) I've mentioned this before, and I believe I've gotten the response that leads me to believe GM dealt away with making 4L60e units different in the V6 vs V8 Silverados GMT800s.

    4l60E Compatibility

Longitudinal mounted/RWD vs transversely mounted/FWD. Completely different transmissions. Find yourself any full sized, GMT800-based truck. There's literally millions out there. Any Suburban, Tahoe, Yukon/XL or Silverado/Sierra 4L60e will work, 99-07 NBS. V6 or V8, doesn't matter became the...

    Fuel pump return

Yes. I started calling it "static" because it makes more sense to me :). "Holding pressure" yes. Brother, go buy a fuel pressure gauge at the local parts store. I've joked here that a fuel pressure gauge should be like included in a "old Chebby truck starter pack." But to be honest, anyone...

    Fuel pump return

Understood. What is your static fuel pressure when the pump primes? How much psi? Does it hold that pressure for 10 minutes? If not, how much does pressure drop? Are you still running the poppet -type spider injectors? Those require the upper end of pressure, like 55 psi+ to fire the engine...

    Fuel pump return

What are you trying to do? I've never actually measured how much flow there's in a return fuel line, but I don't expect there to be much. Return line is basically there to bleed of excess fuel to maintain the specified fuel pressure, controlled by the FPR.

    4:10 vs 3:73

Great thread revival! Are either one of those differentials G80? Would that matter to you? Are you doing any towing? That's probably what that boils down to. Compare what towing capacities are with those 2 different ratios according to your owners manual, and see if that's worth it. Again, if...

I need info on this rearend!

Yeah, I believe the Express vans ran the Dana 60S (60 Super), but I thought those were all 2500/3500 series with 8 lugs. Sounds like you are converting it to 6 lug, right? Do they sell lockers/LSD for the Dana 60S? Or is that not needed in your application? Another option for a swap is to use...

Rebuilding the 5.3 in my 02 Yukon! Need advice/tips!

Hopefully block is okay and only needs bearings and a ball hone on the cylinders. Plan on replacing the cam bearings. Summit Racing makes a dedicated LS cam bearing installer for around $100, or have your machine shop install them. The cylinders hardly ever wear on these engines. A ball hone on...

    Speedometer not reading correctly.

You just bought the vehicle? Do you know the history? Agree on confirming you are running the stock tire size... Other possibilities are: previous owner swapped the rear end and didn't recalibrate the ECU, or swapped the ECU, and again, didn't recalibrate it to the correct gear ratio. Who knows?
