Well I do have spots on the ground and it's all over the starter. It's definitely oil. But, I suspect i have a slight coolant leak as well that I've had since I got the truck. It's incredibly slow though. I may just get my suburban up and going and just really dive into this thing.
As far as...
So, I replaced my oil pan gasket when I did my lifters. I developed an oil leak and I have no clue where it's coming from but it's in places it should not me. Like the bottom of my thermostat housing and coolant crossover. Is it maybe leaking from where the timing chain cover and oil pan meet...
Is this normal? I've had some play in my steering and sometimes it has a slight pop when I put it into reverse and turn left. I can't find anything else wrong.
Thanks for all the replies. I've been driving it everywhere with no issues. When I get the time and motivations I'll swap over to a higher pressure pump. But as of now, it's all good.
The cam I got said it could be used with or without vvt. I do not have vvt in my truck. I did change the timing gear and tensioner. It was a single bolt cam. I will still probably plug the holes in the near future. It's not too hard to get to.
Thanks guys. I feel better. My eninge is a 5.3 non vvt. Cam was a non dod/afm cam that can be used eith both vvt and non vvt. I'll send it I guess. Worst case scenario, I get a new short block lol. I have 172,*** miles.
In the oil pan I believe. And that isn't worrisome? Because it sure worries the hell out of me lol. Before, I had closer to 40 at idle and 55 while driving but I replaced the sensor at the same time I did the DoD/AFM delete.
I'd like to hear more than one person say that isn't worrisome before...
I put the oil pressure sensor with the screen in the back of the non DoD valley cover. It's a new sensor and a new screen. I was told I'd hear lifter tick if it was actually low but I do not hear that. Also, I know I am burning 0 oil because there is no smoke, and yes, I replaced the 0 ring with...
And I'm reading that I actually need the melling 10295.
https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iv-internal-engine/1895680-oil-pump-melling-10295-vs-10296-295-296-a.html
So I did the DoD delete and fixed all my post DoD delete issues except for I'm geting really low oil pressure. I did replace the sensor AND the screen with a brand new one. But I'm getting like 10 PSI or less at idle and about 35 PSI while driving. Maybe 40 PSI when I get on it.
I'm not sure...
So I have slight update
First off, thank you everyone for your advice and help. I'm new to GM vehicles and their problems but have found myself with 3 of them. (3 Vehicles that is. Way more than 3 problems)
So I did the factory DoD lifter replacement and the vehicle never ran right, so, I bit...
Yes, it was a single bolt cam and the dowel set directly up with the cam gear. I'm thinking it's off a bit. I'm just going to order the correct cam and retune and see if it helps. I'll keep updating this post and hopefully it will help someone in the future.
I'm not as familiar with GM's VVT, but it could be that the VVT cam needs to be clocked at a certain position at idle and it's fixed at the position it's in now. It runs ok at higher rpm. Just at idle there is a miss and runs lean. I would assume it would run rich because it's not getting enough...
So I ordered the vvt cam with the kit and I do not have vvt. So I put in the wrong cam. Seems like this is the only thing to explain my issue. I put in LS7 lifter and non DoD valley cover. All that stuff. Just I put in a damn VVT cam because I didn't pay attention when ordering. Also, I did put...
Thank you so much man. I've worked on cars for years and this is the worst oversight I've made.
Was there any additional tuning outside of disabling DoD in Hp tuners?
Also, do you agree that the VVT camshaft is likely the culprit here?
This is what happens when a Ford/Honda guy works on GMs lol.
*UPDATE#2*
Guys, I'm slightly devastated. I ordered the HP Tuners MPVI3, did the DoD disable, wrote the new file to the truck. I did the EXACT same thing the DiabloSport tuner did. I get the
P3449 Cylinder 7 Deactivation solenoid valve control circuit
P3441 Cylinder 6 Deactivation solenoid...
I have. That was plugged in from the very start. It makes no difference for some reason. I've let the truck run for 30 minutes and moved it around and that is literally the only codes I'm getting. Those 4 pesky cylinders.
**UPDATE**
You guys were right. The DiabloSport tuner did not work. However, I'm keeping it due to all the other things it can do.
Once downloading the tune, the truck idled like shit, kept giving me the lean on bank one AND bank two codes. This is due to the fact that I did a mechanical...
Thanks guys. I'll be checking back in after I get the tuner which comes in Friday. It's worth a shot. If it doesn't work then I'll be going with HP tuners. I'm doing a 5.3 swap into my 1948 Plymouth P15 4 door sedan so I have to learn some tuning regardless. I have done some research and I've...
The diablosport tuner I got has transmission shift point tuning. I can't speak for any older units, but this unit does turn off DoD as well. It's worth a shot as I can use it for other things as well.
Edit: I got the tuner they sell with the kit...
