I always heard about the Escalade IQ but never even considered EV when I bought my Tahoe new in 2024. Definitely not an EV guy as most of those EV “guys” are a little light in the loafers or communists! Going EV is like going against your religion or getting expelled from your family lol!
Well now it’s 2 years old and just over 16k miles and passed the pico test, got the extended bottom end warranty and running 0-40W. Engine has had no issues and I really love the Tahoe especially after upgrading the brakes, wheels, tires and getting the illumination features. And I am stuck between keeping this and selling /trading while it still has a year of B to B Factory warranty. Low mileage, garage kept and service records for 5 oil changes since new should sell without issue.
Dilemma is what to replace it with.
Looking strictly at engine/transmission reliability none of the GM engines, 5.3, 6.2, 3.0 diesel can really claim that much.
Neither can others in the class - Ford, Lincoln, Nissan or Toyota.
Maybe the big Lexus GX 600 I think it has the same engine as the GX 550 or Toyota Tundra.
I started watching reviews on the Escalade and in the rare event I saw someone getting in or out of an Escalade IQ I asked them questions. Small sample but not a single negative.
In the meantime I bought my wife a VW ID Buzz and have 2 months driving this EV “girls car” and gotta say it is definitely quirky and more like a phone or a computer than car but it is so fun to drive and it has plenty of space.
On of the main reasons I started investigating the Cadillac Escalade IQ.
If the price was close the most reliable option would be the Escalade IQ.
You basically get rid of the transmission issues, the engine is built and runs like a high speed train and the zero to 60mph performance blows every other V8 away.
Plus the features of soft close automatic doors that will never hit anything in your garage or in a parking lot when opening, amazing graphics on the beautiful OLED infotainment screen and from the reviews the quietest ride and best quality audio system. Tow capacity maybe a weak point at 8k but that’s plenty for the majority of trailers in use.
You want warranty?
The motor and battery is 8 years and 100k miles!
You gotta be kidding me!!!!
Any way if you can afford it - this is the answer to what is the most reliable, best power plant in a big land yacht and maybe one of the most reliable trucks in the size class.
Price of admission tho…..
