I was wondering if anybody has ventured down this road about adding a gas inline filter?

Like @Doubeleive said, fuel filter integrated into the fuel pump assembly since around 2004. Recently, while working on a 2004 K2500HD crew cab, in my driveway, RA listed an external FF. I looked and looked and never found an external FF. I know my 2005 Tahoe Z71 does not have an external FF and RA does list an external FF.

I looked further. RA lists an external FF for the Tahoe thru 2006 and the Silverado thru 2005.

Agreed. I was pointing to an earlier post. Up top was in reference to around 04. Was trying to give a baseline on when in 04.:)

gm considers it good-enough. so unless you plan on cutting the fuel line, or making something that would be a quick connect where the e85 sensor used to be then there is no other easy solution
Well fortunately I don't have the E85 Flex mine is a standard 6.2 gas

Yep, but..... depending on the year the there is still a port on the fuel line that can be used to retrofit.a E85 adapter, GM was getting credits for it up until about 2016 some were produced with the option for e85 and some were not. The plug-n-play kit is about $300 then it just needs to be turned on in the ecm. I could add it to my 2016 or 2018

The filter is built into the sending unit and is quite robust. But, if you get a tank of dirty fuel like I did in MT, then you get the joy of replacing the sending unit. I made the trip home, but replaced it once back......it was gross, but really did it's job. The inlet side of the filter came out brown, while the feed side was still clean.

Yeah no thanks I don't want to have anything to do with the E85
I think you missed the point. that being.....
IF you had such a desire to add a external filter, you could using similar fittings in place of a e85 sensor, without having to cut the fuel line or anything. you would just need to be creative.... meaning a fuel line quick connect adapted to a fuel filter mount and adapted back to a fuel line quick connect
sort of like this, but instead of a e85 sensor there would be a fuel filter housing
