I have a 2022 Chevy Tahoe High Country with the sliding center console. Everytime I open the lid, it will not stay open and falls back down? Anyone else experiencing this problem? Is there a way to fix this?

I'm not familiar with your model year, but as @OR VietVet asked, but I would think that there should be a spring in the hinge assembly. Does the lid freefall down (broken or detached spring), or does it go down slowly (failing spring)?

I have a 2024 Tahoe Premier, purchased new, with the power sliding front center console.

The lid will only remain open if placed in a full-vertical position. If the lid is moved slightly forward, toward closing it, it will fall shut unless held.

I do not like the console lid operation, and wish the lid would be counter-balanced or spring loaded to prevent it from falling shut unless held.

Not sure this is the way it’s supossed to be? If so? This is a poor design for a $90K vehicle!!!
Mine also stays open when vehicle is on flat ground, but even a slight jiggle makes it fall! I read where once the rear cup holders are taken out that there is (so they say) a small blue plastic clip that locks it into place? Good luck! Otherwise? I ❤️ my Chevy !

I have a 2026 that will also not stay open unless in a fully vertical position.

I think it’s the design of it because the lid itself has some weight to it. Unless mine is missing a spring, it feels like it was designed this way

Not until the picture was posted did I think you were talking about the main console cover/armrest (and not the cup-holder cover). There's no spring or anything to keep that cover open. Why would you want it to stay open anyway?

So when you’re parked on a downhill incline and open the console lid, it doesn’t fall shut on your hand while you’re retrieving something from inside it.

I prefer my lid design ( ’05 )….. Opens sideways…. When open ( and stays open)….. It doesn’t interfere with my elbow when digging inside it.
( Like what Scotty says in Star Trek )….. “Engineers…… They love to change things “ :)
Opening sideways is the better design!

I haven’t looked at my 2024 but I bought it new and it’s never stayed in the open position.
Doesn’t bother me as the only time I want to access it is parked and I don’t need it to stay open.
