I went and picked up the rest of the parts I need to complete my motor! Picked up a 2005 complete intake assembly including gaskets, fuel rails, injectors, throttle body assy, engine wiring harness, got the 3-port power steering pump I need for the hydro-boost brake system (just gotta get the other hoses for it), AND a PCM with EGR and downstream O2 sensors deleted (cuz I may be running w/o cats for a bit). I am just tickled pink! I had to drive 2.5hrs 1-way to get the stuff, but it was worth it. The guy was really cool too and very knowledgeable regarding these motors. He has an old school Scout pick-up with a 5.3L in it he tuned himself making 340hp on an engine dyno. Pretty cool. Looks fun! And then he just recently picked up a '57 Bellaire project car he plans to put a 6.0L motor in that's out of an Escalade (he already has it sitting on a motor stand along with 4-5 5.3L motors). Guy's retired at 55yrs old. Must be nice!

Mine is too. I'll post a clip here shortly. It's shorty headers catless pro street 9000 muffler and curb shot out the back.

Thanks to both of you! Both sound really good! It's either I do that and go cat-less or get a cheap $150 cat assy (cuz I'm almost broke from the other parts) but I'd rather wait and get another Magnaflow or something else quality if I do even put cats back in at all. Also, what is the OEM brand(s) used in our trucks?

Just about got the old engine wiring harness completely out and got the intake ready to come off. Already cleaned up the "new" 2005 intake, hydroboost pump, and polished up my alternator a little bit. I like having clean parts to install even if they're used.

Right on, nice truck! Do you happen to know what brand of cat assy did GM use for these trucks?
Sure don't, sorry. I just cut and welded. But I will say this. Make her real clappy at certain rpms. Don't really like that part.

Well just wrapped up a 1800 miles road trip in the denali with that family for spring break. Truck did great, zero issues and rolled over 191k on the trip. Managed 16.7 mpg average which isn't terrible for how loaded down we were and my lead foot dosent help either. I thought about tossing an eco tune in before we left but ran out of time.

Last night we were about 10 hours into the 12 hour return trip while it was dark and raining. My wife hit a pot hole the size of the grand canyon with the right front and possibly bent a rim. Steering wheel is slightly off and has a small shimmy plus now there is a chunk when turning left and right. The chunk sounds like it's from the right front suspension but its hard to say. We pulled into a parking lot and from what I could see nothing is obviously broken, but I will know more when I dig into it.

Shit happens, im not upset about it. We made it home safe.

Truck needs an oil change now so I will try and inspect the suspension better this weekend when I do that service.

( Pass experience )……. May I suggest you search for a performance - suspension / custom truck shop near you.
They are all techs & can solve it in a day. Prices are the same as a ‘run of the mill’ auto repair business. BUT BETTER.

I appreciate the advice, bu I was a master tech for many years. I think I got this covered.
