So picked this Pioneer AVIC-X920BT for 75 bucks with all connections and I couldn’t pass it up. Yes it is a bit dated but it will do it’s job fine along with navigation. As for the wiring interface module I went with the Metra GMOS-04 since it came to 75 with an employee discount. Tomorrow morning I’m going to throw all this together and see how it comes out. When the car audio store opens I’m going to grab a double din dash install kit. I have a Panasonic stand alone rear entertainment system in the rear already. What’s the best way that I can tie these together so what I watch on one is on the other and plays through the vehicle speakers. Also anyone have any tips or anything on the best place to hide wiring (ex. GPS Antenna and Microphone) or just install tips anything would be appreciatedEF5F4CD7-9033-4605-AAF3-414077699D44.jpeg 2B3AB70A-3294-43F5-A46B-E5BF9BF2CE1D.jpeg

I cannot help you with your main question, but other folks on the Forum should be able to chime in with their perspectives and recommendations.

From the standpoint or wiring, I would recommend running the high power wires on one side of the truck, and the low signal pre-amp wires on the other side of the truck, to avoid an electrical flux/interference from the high power wires being picked up by the low signal pre-amp wires. (if you are using high power amps)

The microphones in all of my vehicles are located at the top of the windshield molding, just to the left of the rear view mirror. My GPS pickup is located on the dashboard, next to the lower portion of the windshield on the left side corner.

I wish you the best of outcomes on your audio project.

bt mic is usually pretty easy to put on the top of the drivers side pillar plastic, gps antenna can go under the dash up as high and forward as you can get it the signal will pass thru the plastic.
rear a/v will require a separate adapter, how it works is when you have the radio on in front and video playing in the back then the rear speakers shut off and front speakers play the radio audio, rear video audio would play thru the inra-red headphones, it wont play the rear video sound thru the rear speakers separate from the front. If you want video in motion for both front and rear at the same time then you will need a micro bypass switch for the headunit.

i did that exact same thing for my mic. I was worried from research that the headunit would be pretty much junk due to the age and updates. I went into a local car audio store and was told pretty much it was a fishing weight and to get a new one and that nothing would work at all. So come to find out everything on it works perfectly. As for the rear entertainment system being a stand alone unit all I’d have to do is tie into it and done. For being hell 8 years old or so it does all I want and need until I can really upgrade to iPad install

When you refer to signal reception issues, are you referring to the radio portion of the audio system? If yes, I cannot really definitively tell you, as I virtually never listen to the radio portion of the audio system.

If you are referring to mic or GPS performance, I've never had any significant issues with either.

i was referring to GPS reception signal, as of now i have it mounted right next to the factory fin. I was wondering if there’s a better area for it. Sometimes it picks up good and others it’s so-so. Like I said it does all I need it to do for now until I get everything for my iPad install. Also got some new stuff coming this week
