    6.0 what grade fuel

Cadillacs use the LQ9 6.0 **. They require premium. Yes, the knock sensors will scale back the timing advance on 87 octane to a degree. If you get a tune, Black Bear says to use 93. I can perceive a difference in performance between 91 & 93.

    4WD Switch?

I agree. I've already replaced the switch. Now it is time to replace the encoder.

    Semi-random horn honking?

Problem solved! There are 4 legs behind the airbag. The top 2 had been bent inward, causing the horn/airbag to be very loose. Once the legs were straightened, the horn/airbag was tight again and no more random honking. I must have laid on the horn pretty hard at some point.

    6.0L and tune

It ran ok, but I didn't push it until I got a tune.

    6.0L and tune

What year is your 5.3? Is it a flex fuel? Around 2004ish, only the flex fuel 5.3 had a fuel return line. That is why I had to use my 2004 5.3 intake assembly on my 2005 6.0 **. Also, non-flex fuel 4.8, 5.3 & 6.0s have 25 lb/hr injectors. 5.3 flex fuel injectors are around 36 lb/hr. I used...

    Semi-random horn honking?

The dude that replaced my steering wheel switches did remove the air bag (whole center module), but that was months before this started. He had a special tool to release the latches.

    Semi-random horn honking?

I hope not. Is that expensive and difficult to change? I don't think it is the loose air bag module, because sometimes it does it while going straight on smooth roads.

    Semi-random horn honking?

I am experiencing a weird problem. My horn is doing a very short honk somewhat randomly. It seems to happen under mid-effort braking with a right turn. It only does this very infrequently. Why? My tire sensors are bad and I will need front brakes soon. Is it some sort of warning or could I...

Looking to go the 6.0 Route

LQ4s are cheaper and easier to find, but the only difference is the compression ratio (9.6 v. 10.1) and the factory tune. LQ9s need premium fuel. Both have the same 317 heads and same cam. Junkyard LQ9s have become ridiculously expensive. I saw one out of an Escalade with 107K on it for...

You probably won't even need wheel spacers.

    Fox 2.0 vs Bilstein 5100

Unfortunately, the Fox 2.0s are only available in 0 to +1" for front & rear. If you have lifted the front 2", then supposedly they won't work. By the way, I replaced my factory red Bilstein shocks (with over 160K miles on them) with 5100s. The factory shocks were still good, except for some...

    Exhaust options for Denali

As in the link above, Magnaflow makes a 3.5" cat-back specifically for Denali/Escalades with the 6.0 (separate mid-pipes). I have it and like it (Magnaflow 15734). Shop around. I think dealer cost is under $400. If you want to go cheap, then just replace the muffler on the factory set-up...

    New exhaust

After I bought a full Magnaflow cat-back, the local performance muffler shop told me that the could build me a 3.5" system (muffler back) out of new(er) take-offs they had piled up behind the shop for about 1/3 the price of the Magnaflow.

    Book time for engine replacement?

Jeez. I guess that I got lucky. A local shop that specializes in LS swaps found me an engine, LQ9 ($1400), matching 4L65E ($500) and installed it all (4WD) for $700. Total was $2600 OTD, but they kept my old engine & trans. They also give a 24 mo/24K mile warranty on the engine & 6 months on...

    2004 Tahoe Z71 Exhaust

Just get a Jones MF2590 muffler from Amazon. It is a Magnaflow copy.
