So my grandpa passed away back in March and I am going to be purchasing his 1994 Yukon GT. Yukon is black in color with red interior. 4x4 gasser with auto tranny. The truck has just over 151k miles on it. This truck was my grandpa's baby and he practically raised me in it. This was the vehicle we took everywhere together. He was the original owner. He always had dreams of doing a full restoreand now it's my responsibility to make that dream come true. So I decided that I would join the forum and learn as much as possible about the vehicle. I do know it is kind of a rare model. I reached out to GMC and they told me that they produced 2603 yukon gt's in 94. Anything you guys could teach me would be great. The only thing it needs right now is new brakes.

Lmc sell a headers system that would give you a nice boost as we but is on the pricey side of $. they claim a 20% hp boost and 10% in mileage. http://lmctruck.com/icatalog/CSD/full.aspx?page=102
there is a wider selection of header setups on summit from shorties to one similar to above. you will need to check the applications for notes like for use with air injection or not, 2wd 4wd, c.a.r.b. approved, things like that.
High flow cats are around as well.
There are also other performance mods for other systems just let me know what area ou want to work on.

Before you do any performance mods. do all maintenance first.
Full fluid and filter change, front to rear, including brake, power steering and radiator flush.
First thing I would be doing is pop that air filter, toss it for new one and clean that throttle body! I bet its black and gummy as heck. USe this stuff. its magical!
Get a new fuel filter, swap it then dump this into tank. Double what it calls for on the bottle.
Regardless what anyone tells you. Use standard copper core NGK plugs, they are cheap and work perfect.
Use ACdelco wires and replace the cap, rotor and ignition module (under rotor).

I forgot to mention. Before he passed away he put in a new water pump, serviced ac and had a tune up including fluid flushes and replacements. I will look into a new fuel filter and already have a K&N air filter on order.

and when shopping around for them aluminized steel material should be plenty good build quality. material like stainless steel is way to expensive and really is not needed unless you have the money to burn on it and just want to show off. aluminized steel holds up very well even in cold climate condition that get road salt treatments.

if planning to do intake mods soon then just put regular one in for now if you really need one. if not use it so this will give you time to do planning for a long while on what you want to do in the grand scheme of things. there are mods to intake and fuel system that may dictate you throw out what you just put in. planning and shopping smartly will save money to invest into other areas by not wasting money on ineffective stuff. now unless modding that[particular part for performance reasons use on delco or delphi parts any where on the drivetrain. this like plugs can be delco or autolites but avoid ones like bosch, ngk, e3's(those really need to dye all ready),bosch+4, v-tip or splitfires. they are either overpriced junk or don't work well with the system the gm has designed. plain copper cores from autolite or delco will do well for you. filters or pcv components from delco or fram are good. hoses or belts from goodyear are best. suspension components from moog are best as well for anything else ask first so we can help you get the right stuff.
Well I'm here to learn. Never messed with a Yukon before. All I know are Dodge trucks. I know I have a ton of research to do and a lot of learning so that's why I'm here.

stock always was. I don't recall who but someone made a dual output conversion for the exhaust. some just have a shop make it for them.

i had a 87 dodge d100 with a slant six awhile back. wish i never donated it. wanted to do the hyper-pak mod but the cali laws made it harder to keep running when the vacuum amplifiers kept failing and was getting impossible to find. i gave up on it instead of just perhaps upgrading to a v-8 instead. It left me just needing a smog cert but otherwise intact.
