i searched on here for an issue i am having with my tahoe but did not come up with anything.

my tahoe has a 2inch body lift and i bought it this way

my issue is i went on a road trip to St Louis this past weekend and when i drove over 80mph my tahoe started to rock like a boat but it still drove straight while it rocks
it felt like being in a small fishing boat while one person stood up rocking it back and forth and still going on a straight path

hopefully im making sense and not to be confused with swaying in the lane because that is NOT what was happening

can any one give me some info on what may cause this?

thanks

upgrade front sway bar bushings and add or upgrade rear sway bar bushings.
check and replace shocks.

Nailed it.

My shocks/end links/bushings are toast. Same boat rocking deal.

The two tone is cool. Tiny little picture though.

thanks for the info

i was thinking the sway bar links but wasnt sure

you guys recommend any sway bar links? or can i go the cheap route and buy them from auto zone, advance, etc.?

i do plan on replacing the ball joints, pitman arm, idler arm, tie rods because when i install the aftermarket rims my tahoe shakes after 55mph
right now i have the stock wheels and tires so it drives fine other then the rocking

thanks for the complimet on my truck i will resize the pic

I just bought most of those things from rockauto...

Part Number Part Type Price EA Core EA Quantity Total
2003 GMC YUKON XL 1500 6.0L V8
MEVOTECH GK6541 Ball Joint $ 10.09 $ 0.00 2 $ 20.18
MEVOTECH GK6658 Control Arm Bushing $ 8.50 $ 0.00 2 $ 17.00
MEVOTECH GK6534 Idler Arm $ 11.59 $ 0.00 1 $ 11.59
MEVOTECH GK6536 Pitman Arm $ 11.53 $ 0.00 1 $ 11.53
MEVOTECH GK6408 Stabilizer Bar Bushing $ 4.31 $ 0.00 1 $ 4.31
MEVOTECH GK6476 Stabilizer Bar Bushing $ 3.98 $ 0.00 1 $ 3.98
Shipping Ground $ 7.18
Order Total $ 75.77

Energy or MOOG would be better, but damn those were cheap.

2 lower ball joints $20
2 sets of LCA bushings $17
pitman and idler arms for $23
Poly sway bar bushings Front and Rear for $8

I totally forgot about their normal 5-10% promo's couldve basically shipped free. CA tax free.

If i bought that stuff at my local monument autoparts I would've probably spent over $200... They wanted $20 for just front sway bar bushings...

Make sure to check the body lift bushing mount areas and the tightness of the bolts.
