Hid in Halos

I know Hids should be put in proper projectors but i stumbled upon some cheap halos and need some help.

Will the h3 hid bulb fit in the socket? How would I wire the hid to the headlight socket which goes to the existing wiring?

What does h3 hid bulbs and halos have to do with anything? Lol but no you need a 9006 to go in the stock low beams. And you use a hid relay harness for connecting to the stock wiring

That housing looks like it needs a different bulb then the stock 9006 which is probably where he is getting the H3 from

Because the housing calls for h3 bulbs then have a harness converting them to 9006. Im asking if anyone knows whether or not the h3 hid bulb fits in that socket and how to wire up the hids.

Yes thats where I got it from, Ive wired hids before and know the stock bulb is 9006.

It looks more like a h1 to me. But if the housing days h3 then it's a h3.

If your putting a hid bulb in, then you will have a h3 bulb with amp connectors, those hook to the amp connectors on the ballast. Then you can plug your stock 9006 plug straight into the ballst. Or the preferred way is to use a relay harness to power the hid ballast

Yeah its says h3. The hids should be in Friday, any other tips about the wiring would be much appreciated.

It had a halogen bulb I presume, did the old bulb have a screw in it to secure it? Or just the fold over tab? Cause like I said it looks alot more like a h1 bulb socket to me.

Can you post a pic of the h3 to 9006 adapter. Particularly the h3 side? Just want to make sure

It is an H1 the lights came with a wrong booklet which states H3 should be used but the old bulb says H1

No. You won't use that harness. Your going to plug your stock 9006 headlight plug into the ballast. Then the ballast and hid bulb will have amp style connectors to hook the bulb and ballast together.

Your going to have to take apart the amp connector to slide it through that weather boot on the housing.

If I remember correctly, the last time I ordered the HID kit the connectors looked like that already, but if not all I do is stick a flat head into it to remove the plastic?

Also do I need that metal base off the old H1?

It depends on where you get the kit from. Some are dismantled already others you have to do. A flat head is too big.

No you don't need the metal base, the new bulb will fit right in. You may have to enlarge the hole a little bit. I did on my old halogen projectors.

And how did you do that? Dremel? I dont have one so how would I do it with a drill?

Just a drill and a drill bit. Thats what I used... couldn't tell you which size though. You'll see when you get the new bulbs. Slide it in and see if it rubs. If it does drill out where it hits.

The bulbs fit perfect now how do I get them through the rubber gasket? Do they have to go through it, I know on my armada it doesn't have a gasket (stock headlight).

Also do I have the wires hooked up properlly, only wires out are the prong ones to go to the 9006 from the truck?

I hooked everthing up and after a little trouble everything is good except the halos. I hooked them up to the running lights (quick connects) but they aren't coming on. Also which adjustment bolt do I use to align them down.

Are you checking the lights while in drive? Cause the vehicle has to be in drive for the drl to work

As for adjustment your gonna have to play with it to figure which bolts do what
