So I have been stuck at 1100 now for over 8 weeks on my Denali order. I have been searching out on the internet for dealer stock, and several times we have seen another truck that matches all of our options that we wanted with the exception of the 2nd row bench seat. Here is our problem. We currently have 5 kids and as such that fills a 2nd row captains setup. There could possibly be a 6th in the next couple of years and as sure as God made little green apples, if I break down and buy the 2nd row buckets my wife will get prego again.

So herein lies my question and perhaps Mr. Yeti can chime in with his parts business...Is is possible to swap out to the bench at a later time from the buckets, and if so does anyone know how much I would be looking at in cost to buy the 2nd row bench?

Thanks in advance!

Yes and a bunch.

Later on down the road your least expensive way to go would be to find someone halfway local and trade out. The buckets would by far be the most desirable and you should find someone to trade you even.

Not sure the stitching isnt different on a Denali though....

Stitching is different on Denali...

Also, would the power fold be different? Or because it is a split bench it might be the same setup?

I would just wait it out or if anything find a dealer with allocation to order from.

I agree

I ordered mine and waited 8 weeks for the bench. I'm glad I did.

Dealers had everything else I wanted on their lots but I still waited for the 2nd row bench.

I am not sure why a lot of people think the 2nd row bucket seats are so great.

I've got 4 kids under age 13 and waited for the 2nd row bench as well. Yes, 4 kids can fit with the captains chairs in the 2nd row, but not with friends and relatives riding along regularly. Compared to the 2006, the 2nd row bench with power fold and tilt is awesome! So easy for the kids to get in and out now. Love it!

Agree, wait for the bench. The second row power fold is awesome and even with car seats in place, it wide enough that the seat will fold without having to manually push the seat out of the way.
On top of it, they finally put a latch system on the side (also) that doesn't fold.
Maybe expand your search area for the bench?

I'm in Nashville TN and I have a 60/40 bench seat that is black leather with white stitching. I'm confused about how this swap would work (anchors and electronics). Has anyone actually performed this in a 2015? My bench seat has heated/cooled also. I'm wondering if I would lose that feature if I swap to the bucket seats.

I have buckets but wish I had the bench in my 2015 Denali. I plan on leaving the 3rd row down at all times unless I need to carry 8 people.

The dealer told me it was not possible to swap the 2 x buckets for a bench but I didn't have much faith in the salesman.

If someone is interested in a swap attempt I have jet black interior with white stitching.

Where are you located? Are your buckets heated/cooled seats?

I'm in Scottsdale, AZ. It's a 2015 Denali I just purchased last week, so the seats are brand new.. They are heated, I don't believe they offer cooled in the 2nd row but I have the premium package.

If you want we can start by taking pictures of the mounts/wiring to see if this is even possible?

I cannot PM as I don't have 10 posts but you can email me at

Ok. I'll take some pix tomorrow. Mine has 10,000 miles on it but is like brand new. Not really sure how we'd do this logistically since we're so far away but I'll send pix and then we can get a better idea what we're dealing with.

I agree logistically this would be difficult we would have to ship each other the seats. I could see freight costing about $100-$200.

I pulled up the carpet surrounding the bucket seats and it appears each bucket seat is part of a frame that is bolted to the tub in each of the 4 corners. Each seat also has an un-plugable connection for electrical components.

See Pics...

Here's my pix. I tried to get the same angles you did and then some.

Wow that actually looks like it would be a direct swap out, 8 floor bolts and 2 connections, one on each side of the seat.

What trim level do you have? My leather is perforated, for some reason yours look different, may be the angle.

Its an SLT. I haven't seen a pic of your actual seats so i'm not sure. if by perforated you mean little holes in the seat for the heat to come out of yes. BTW, the bench is only heated, not cooled as I originally posted.

I'm looking at swapping my bench for buckets. I noticed on the bench there is a slit in the carpet next to the rear passenger seat. Just could easily swap carpet piece as well. If anyone interested in swapping buckets for a bench in Louisiana let me know. I have non heated bench seat in black leather with white stitching.

I agree the carpet would also just as easily swap. Greggovader and I have been taking some photos and it looks like a pretty easy swap, 8 total bolts and two wiring harnesses if you have heated seats. I just wish we were closer, would be nice to do the swap together just to be sure everything is exactly the same.
