If you had $25K or less to spend on a daily beater second vehicle (new or used) what would you buy?

Stepwise Chevy classic with ls swap. I'm about to start one of them projects with a 6.0 if it continues to go as planned looks like the 6.0 wants to back out of deal...

If it doesn't have to be a "beater" but a nice weekend driver it'd be a '70 Chevelle modded to my liking. If needed to be one I'd drive regardless of weather it'd probably be something like an 4th gen Camaro SS

It's got to be a beater.

Take dogs to the beach, shopping, and general errands without caring about keeping shit immaculate.

I'd like to have a 67-72 burb but original, solid, and mostly rust free and not do any fix up to it other than maybe drivetrain upgrades so that it wouldn't matter if kids or pets got in it wet or muddy and door dings wouldn't matter :)

If I was to get a Jeep I'd want an old school late 70's or early 80's jeep.

Just to clarify ... I'm being given a 13 Outback with 3K miles from a member of my family as a gift.

So i can either keep it and use it as the daily beater or trade it in for something else.

The only prob with the Jeep is that if I get a 2dr or unlimited in Sport trim with relatively low miles it's at best an even trade with the Subaru, so any mods like lifts, rims, etc, would be on top. It's not a matter of being able to or not, I'm just curious as to what can be gotten for the $25k all in. For example I could get a slightly used GTI or R Spec and slam it to the ground for that budget. The other choices were rides like the Focus ST or a Mazda 3 ... I even thought of getting a Volt for ***** and giggles as it'll never get used past its electric range.
