Best Year to Buy?

I run a Firestone and I'm talking my parents into a Tahoe but I can't remember what the best year is to buy. All will have water pump, fuel pump and bearing issues but I can't remember what years have the oil pressure problems with the o ring etc. So what year should they get?

Wondering the same thing.

When I was shopping I specifically looked for an 05 model year. First year with the electric fans and last year of the strictly Class II data bus (06 was hybrid Class II and CAN).

Anything special (stronger) about the 02 and 03 model years?

I always thought there was an advancement between 01/02 and 03. DIC maybe? Or the auto A/C?

Had and driven all years and most happy with 2001 and 2002. Only real issues with those two years is the ABS! Now I have put the 03 and up center console in mine and dash panels. Wife's wanted to keep her rear power outlet and three in dash. Cluster is easy to convert. And other then driver seats now rear wear issues.

IIRC 03 is first year with ethrottle. I like my cable. Several posts about TPS crapping out causing limp home mode etc. Also, no cabin air filter 03 and beyond until when i cannot remember. I like my cabin air filter too. 02 has no steering wheel control for radio etc. The latter improvement would be nice.

Wrong my 2001 has electric throttle body and my wife's 2002 has a cable throttle body.

I was pretty sure 2003 was the start of the cable. you sure your 2001 is a 2001? or maybe someone installed it for whatever reason? motor swap perhaps and they wanted to use the newer computer?

I have owned my Tahoe for 14 years now yep pretty sure lol. And yes I have done a motor swap but it came from the factory and the dealership with that setup.

Were there any significant changes between '03 and '04 besides the TPMS? I wish I could find a website that listed all of the options and upgrades added each year for the NBS models. I'm stuck between a '03 and a '04. I know '05-06 switched from mechanical to electric cooling fans.

Dang, I guess my memory really does suck. Wonder if stabiltrak is part of the fbw package? Mine 02 sle 4x4 has neither.

This was a 2wd Yukon with barn doors, has leather but that was about it. I'm trying to buy it.
