Need help with wheel/tire/drop setup

Hey guys, new here but I have lurked for quite some time. Finally figured I'd ask some question.

Current wheel/tire setup: chrome 22x9.5 wheels, 305/40/22 tires, stock suspension.

**PLEASE KEEP IN MIND I WANT TO DO A 3/5 DROP IN THE NEAR FUTURE**




A little background on my 2003 Tahoe LT. The wheels on the truck are what came with it when I bought it used. LOVE the way they look (somewhat sold me on the truck). But now I have a few options on my mind (please bare with me, creative juices are flowing haha).

Problems:
1) The chrome on one wheel is peeling off and gets worse every time I wash my car....it looks like shit!

2) New tires will be needed in the next 5-7k miles ($$$)



**BELOW IS WHERE I NEED HELP/SUGGESTIONS**



Possible Solutions:
1) Disregard chrome wear and just get new tires
2) Plasti-dip the rims AND get new tires when needed
3) Get a new wheel/tire setup (I REALLY like the Police Pursuit Tahoe look)
-- black steel wheels with chrome center cap preferably 17" wheels...any ideas on brands/sizes/places to get them?

Any and all help and/or suggestions is much appreciated, thanks guys!

Thanks for the feedback! If i do Plasti dip them, I'm going to leave the center caps chrome....if it looks like crap then I'll dip them as we'll

Yeah that's the look I want.

I really need to find a good drop setup, I've read for hours and hours and still don't know where to start. So far I've gathered I need front keys? And Spindles? And Rear coil springs? And shock extenders?....looking to stay stock all around as for as shocks go...for now.

I thought about plasti dip but stayed away because it is not long term. Its good if you wanted to see if you like black wheels or not.

My wheels are having the same problem. I decided to powdercoat them a polished look. Not chrome but will still look really good. But if your going with black then that is much easier and permanent.

Hmmm I guess powder coating is an option. You said you had it done...about how much does it cost?

Take your wheels to a reputable wheel repair shop and re-chrome.

My wheels are actually at the shop now being worked on. I know the owner so he is giving me a sweet deal but he told me if somebody were to come off the streets then he would charge $140 a wheel (22") . You can find others to do it cheaper but just make sure they do it right.

Only problem with that is that I don't want one wheel looking newer than the other 3, and I'm sure re-chroming all 4 would cost an arm and a leg

I checked into chrome myself. $300 plus per wheel. Its expensive but if you can do one wheel at a time it wouldn't be as bad. But, if one wheel is bad the others will probably be getting worse themselves.

I think I'm going to focus on a good lowering kit first, bit no idea where to start. Buy a kit or piece together?

i pieced mine together little by little when deals poped up and got my springs for 110 spindles for 180 shock extenders for 20 and keys for 40 which i still need to install oh and its all belltech so all together i have 350 for my 4/6 drop but that took me months to piece together..you could also buy a complete set from tony..his name on here is norcal ss and he could probbly get you the best kit possible there is

I've definitely checked out his site and read just about all his threads/posts on here lol. His 3/5 kit looks awesome, a little steep for me right now especially knowing I'll have to take it to a shop to have it installed...but I will definitely consider it.
