Roof Rack delete??

I have my roof rack removed from my Hoe. My quesiont is, with all the people on here, What did you all do to seal up the holes in the roof? Weld and paint? Put the screws back in? Silicone? Need some input. I would eventually like to weld the holes and paint it back, but how in depth is that?

It is a factory LT rack.

I took mine off years ago and just found some stainless screws at lowes and haven't had any problems (that I know of). The only unsightly part is the screws look ok, but the retainer part is a touch rusty and is more noticable on the white roof. I thought about having it shaved but then found a decent deal on an escalade roof rack that I'll put on one of these days.

Well, I just put the screws from the rack back in with a little silicone just in case of water getting past the threads and onto my headliner. I was just wondering what others were doing instead? I want to weld them up but thats some serious $$$

I just put the screws back in. I haven't had any problems at all. It's been around a year or so.

no screws are even needed. take a look inside the hole it is sealed. i took my rack off a year ago and didnt cover up the holes and its been fine there is no leaking

The first thing I did was to take the roof rack off !!! If I want to haul something I'll put it inside. I went to the local auto glass shop and asked them if they would seal the holes for me and they said "NO" but they would give me some sealer. Ok there are 12 small holes. How much sealer do you need for that ? They gave me a TUBE OF SEALER, 10.5 oz of sealer. My truck is metalic spiral gray and the sealer is black. I just filled the holes and all you can see is the nuts that stand proud of the roof. The sealer they gave me is (DOW U-418 Quick Cure Primerless to Auto Glass Urethane Adhesive). I have about 10oz left. LOL
