you will absolutely love doing it(intense sarcasm) but it should cut down on your cranking times.

its been cranking a more than usual when i start her up..

any ideas?

My question to you is how much longer does it crank over before starting?

In the short time I have had my 97' Hoe I experience slight differences in how long it takes to fire up. Sometimes I just have to hit the key and boom it fires right away. Other times I hit the key and it takes at the very most just under a second or so to fire. I attribute this to whether the engine is hot or cold and where in the firing order the engine is when you start it. Also, one must take into account the infinite unique differences and variability we have amongst engine to engine and vehicle to vehicle and the parts installed within that vehicle and their condition and so on.

But if you are cranking on her for more than a second or so then you may want to look into doing what the other people have mentioned here.

Post back what you find out as I am sure it can only help everyone should we also have similar problems.

Yea, its definatly over a second. When I first bought her I would just hit it and shed start. I dont know how to say this but if firing up instantly would be a 10, shed start at 1 and then shoot up to 10 in a second or two.

The metering block on the fuel pump basket is either junk or has popped off. Drop the tank pull the basket, change the pump, and the fuel sock for the pump, the new fuel pump will usually come with a 3-4" rubber hose and two hose clamps to replace the metering block, because GM decided they were a bad Idea and after time they fail causing the loss of fuel prime....

really? doesnt sound logical

well my main concern and theory was that it was the fuel pump so i dropped the tank and checked it out,

nothing out of the ordinary

then i basically "hit the wall" for us mechanics,

and started testing everything start-up wise,

and with my luck, i tested the starter last and vwalla, there was my problem

it's your pump mine started taking long to start i thought my

timing got off. then one day drove the truck parked it 1hr later

it would start didn't hear the pump come on had it towed to

the house after that i went to start it and it did start and ran.

dam i should have waited a lil while save on towing and get this

i had a full tank to drain to put the pump in.
