I posted in another thread but didnt get any feedback.

Now it seems I have something rattling rather more of a banging noise in my front right side. Only hear it when I hit rather large bumps/potholes/expansion joints . Brought it to a local shop near my job and they think its a tie rod, while I felt a little play in it when it was on the lift I dont think that can create such a loud noise. I decided it bring it back to the guy who did the wheel alignement, front tires and f&r brakes and after a few test drives we finally duplicated the noise and he seems to think its the shock/strut. He didnt even notice the tie rod......but thats another story.

I told him it sounds like a shock mount but he says there isnt one, thats it part of the shock/strut. But I just checked and Moog makes a replacement for this truck. Do I have it replaced? Do I do one side or both sides?
Anyone have any ideas? And know of a good shop in the NY metropolitan area?

Not sure on NBS, but the OBS has no shock mounts. The sound you hear may be a bad shock. I would change both shocks or all depending on the vehicles miles and have those tire rods checked again.

If I had cash to burn I would but this truck has air shocks! Not cheap by any means......I am trying to upgrade my warranty to a higher tier which covers them. But in the meantime I want to confirm what the actual problem is.

Bro, I checked some sites for the auto ride shocks and I may say that I am glad I dont have those. They are pretty high but I dont know what to consider a good price with so many different types for those trucks. Maybe you can check dealer for part number and can cross reference to check for correct one.

My father insisted I drop my truck off at "his guy"...now I am being told its the caliper sleeve bolts...they have play in them. He says its a cheap fix. We will see! smh

How do your sway bar links look? The last time I had banging going on when I hit bumps, especially speed bumps, that was the culprit. A $20 fix. Not sure if it applies to your situation, but it's worth a look.
