Don't know what the deal is but i can never get the lock on a pump to stay on when fueling my truck... i cant hold it either or it stops. i have to basically find the sweet spot on the trigger and hold it there. For awhile i thought it was the pumps but i have been to a few other gas stations and it still happens. Has anyone else had this issue? whats the deal!?

Not a clue. Mine does not happen often enough for me to be annoyed by it. ;)

it happens to me almost every time i fuel up. there was a few rare occasions where it actually topped off on its own.

I had a CEL that was caused by a fuel tank vent hose. It was causing the same issue with filling up. Dealer fixed it so I can't be any help on a DIY.

I thought I was the only one... I have tried probably 15 gas stations, some pumps work, some don't... it's weird.

There is a redesigned EVAP CVS to fix this problem. GM did issue a service bulletin. Fix is easy and can be done in your driveway. I took care of this already on my truck. Instructions that came with the part were very easy to follow.

See post #36.

So you had to fix the problem? Was the dealership going to charge you for a factory defect? I was under the impression if it is a recall or tsb the dealership would fix at no cost to the customer?

The answer is no, but my dealer i always take all my cars they ussally look past this. So I would say if you have a good rep with your dealer it can happen for free outside the factory warranty.

I had this issue as well. Mine was a celenoid/valve thing on the fueling system that lets the air pressure equalize. It had rusted shut. Got it replaced and it works great.

Mine is a NBS but had the same issue for a short time. It was the evap solenoid and I was told it was from "topping off after the pump shut off." Said the excess gas overflowed into the lines and I didn't get all that I thought I was getting. I don't know how true it is, but the replacement fixes my problem.

That sooo Ironic that I just asked my mechanic about it this weekend! EVERY TIME I put gas in, I have to hold it about 3/8 to 1/2 way just to get it to be consistent. So this is a know defect?

Breanne, If I send you my vin # can you help me as well? This is soooooo frustrating!

Donkey0683,
Yes, send me your VIN number and I can look into this for you. Just a quick question… have you talked to your local dealer about this? And what is the name of your local dealer? I just ask so I can call them and talk to them about it.
