So I had a customer call and ask about polishing out his Black '07 Denali. He mentioned that he had scratched it after trying to clean it at a "do-it-yourself" carwash. The problem is that he used a brush that wasn't clean .........

Scratches were an understatement!

As I received it:

After I finished:

Just thought this would make for an interesting subject as a person can do what may be perceived as being irreversible damage and then have it turn out to not have been so bad afterall.

Looks great. I wish you were closer. When we bought my wife's 07 a few months ago it had scratches on it where a golden retriever jumped up on it and left some scratches. I haven't done anything with it yet, but it's next on my list now that the weather is improving.

Nice work you've done there!!! That came out good as new :waytogo:

This should be noted for others who may actually use the mistake of using a BRUSH that is normally for tires and the under side of your car on their actual PAINT :whymewhyme: That guy should have paid you twice the going rate for how you turned his ride back around man. Nice job!

Lately there have been a wealth of Tahoes coming for polishing etc. People just don't seem to take care of their cars anymore. I have plenty of work coming because of it though!
Thanks

Thanks man! The first words when he & his wife arrived were "Holy Sh*t!!"

I had to laugh and have him promise not to do something like that again! LOL.

You wouldn't believe some of the cars we get in here. I have another black Tahoe for tomorrow morning and a Phantom Black GTO for tomorrow afternoon ....... we'll see what they look like.

If you have a high res pic of your sig then I sure wouldn't mind seeing what I could do in terms of editing it. Nothing fancy, just the basics. I enjoy the hell outta that stuff.

Holy F! Was the brush made out of sandpaper? Sheesh....

What did you use on the wheel well liners? Just soap/water/brush? Did you put any treatment on them afterwards? I can get mine cleaned all good and well, but they don't look as "black" as those ones after you were done with them. What's your trick?

Great job! How long did that take you?

I really like it, but need to get a better wide angle lens. I currently use a Canon 7D ....... Canon is definitely FTW. :rocking:

Yeah, the owner said he didn't rinse the sand etc from the finish (skiing in Taos, NM) before he started washing. I think I threw up in my mouth a little when he showed up that morning. :)

I use a bunch of different products, however the wheel wells get the same wheel cleaner as the tires/wheels, agitated with a long handled brush and then rinsed. Towel dry them, apply Chemical Guys Bare Bones undercarriage spray and let them sit while I work on the rest of the vehicle. I wipe them down with a MF towel when I start the final wipe down of the exterior surfaces.

Works really well for engine bays too.

Total time spent on this truck (I steam cleaned the interior carpets too) was about 6 hours start to finish. I was working atop a parking garage. LOL

Yeah, for the past 20 years or so. Started out as a hobby and has just kinda gotten out of hand in the last couple of months.

Had a couple of shops in So. Cal before moving to ATX. Wanted to stay busy so here I am back in the game once more. Ugh.

I love it though. :)
