how did that fiberglass one sound?? doesnt seem like it had alot of airspace for those subs, i like the concept and i wouldnt mind having one like that but alot bigger

Mine is not really "custom" besides the grey vinyl but I figured I'd throw it up anyway. Btw, this pick is about 2yrs old and I know there was alot of junk in my trunk.

If I remember right, it was just over 1.5 cu ft per sub. I was building the box for a different set of subs, then the customer changed his mind at the last minute and wanted the PPI subs. They wouldn't fit becuase of the huge basket/motor structure, so I ended up having to invert them. Sounded pretty good. Nice and tight, but still dropped low enough for techno and rap type music.

only thing custom about mine is its custom built to fit exactly into the curviture under my silverados seat. Its only got a P3 Rockford fosgate sub in there. But I hope to Upgrade it to a W7 JL sub. Hoping it will fit too.

has anyone tried to replicate the JL Audio stealth box? I want a bit more pound in the truck without sacrificing its usability... and i dont think i can get rid of the spare JK

I've never tried to build one, but I've put quite a few of them in. That would be one big pain in the ass box to build. You won't lose any functionality of the center console with the stealthbox though, but the console needs to be permanetly modified.

Ahh man. I knew it. What can I get for the center console. IM sure its the same in a silverado as a yukon or tahoe.

Basically it's a LOT of cutting plastic on the inside of the console, drilling out the rivets that hold the factory sub in place, and drilling holes through the transmission hump to mount the box. It's not a hard box to put in, but it's VERY time consuming and quite a bit of disassembly.

JL Audio makes a stealthbox that goes in the center console with one 10W3. They also make ones for the Silverado that go under the back seat that have one 10W6 ported per box. They make them for both the driver and passenger sides. The only difference between the Silverado and Tahoe/Yukon console is the Silverados have the rear air vents on the back of the console next to the rear radio controls. You would only run into problems if you got the center console box because you need to cut out those air vents for the box to fit.

JK....I'm just curious if you had any problems with cancellation on the subs? By the way I love your technique of carpeting with the rabet on the sides of the boxes. I learned that years ago at a Billy Brown training....looks so much nicer than the "X" on the sides.

No cancellation at all. As a matter of fact, it played 1.4 db louder this way than the same set up in the same volume enclosures and the subs on the same plane facing back. Speakers facing each other don't cancel. If that was the case, door speakers would have the same problems. They will only cancel if the waves are 180* out of phase.
Thanks for the props, btw. I always try to avoid seams whenever possible. Looks much cleaner that way.

You have to use flex-form carpet. It will stretch in all directions, not just side to side like some carpets/vinyls. But, you also have to learn where to pull, stretch, and secure the carpet as you're wrapping your project. The only seam is the one where the carpets' ends meet. I put this on the bottom or back where it's not going to be visible. I also trim it the exact same way I trim multipiece tint; one layer over the other, trim through both pieces with one slice, remove the bottom strip, then the edges will lay together like it was seamless.
