So I'm new to the forum but haven't seen this particular issue posted so here we go..
I've got an 05 Tahoe 5.3 4x4 LS with 106,*** miles on it. I know the actuator that changes what vents the ac or heat blows through is on the drivers side above the gas pedal. I can change the direction from chest level vents to just feet to combo no issues. When I switch it over to defrost it'll just blow fully at the feet level though. I can see the actuator move when I cycle through all the different positions but nothing will ever come out of the defrost vents. Not the biggest issue living in NorCal but there are times where I could use it. And as far as I can tell the ac and the recirculation function will swich back and forth if I change it. There used to be a tick behind the dash toward to passenger side but it all of the sudden stopped. I've tried the pulling of fuses to force the actuators to relearn their position but with no luck. It's not a huge issue but just bothers me. Any info would be much appreciated.

My rear ac blend door is cooked too I think and will only blow hot or ambient air when I dial it over to cold but there's plently of info on swapping that out. The ticking used to drive me crazy but it hasn't been ticking in a while too but still doesnt blow cold. Luckily I don't sit back there lol

Curious what you find out.
For awhile I kept hearing my actuators moving/ticking up front.

I thought I heard something about an updated climate control calibration..
Something about the foam in the doors compressing over time and exceeding the expected programmed range. ?

I'm curious how you 'see' the actuator move.

I'm looking up above the gas pedal under the dash at the actuator while I reach back and move the dial on the climate control unit. I can see the actuator part move as it grabs the white plastic piece that changes the direction of where the air blows from. So I guess with my eyes is the answer to your question...
