Folks. On my 2020 Yukon I did the “recommended” maintenance and changed the tranny fluid at over 107K miles. Now at 111K I’m getting that damn tranny shudder, rpm’s up and down, and hard shifting. Mechanic said it was a bad idea to change the fluid. Any insight???
So I called a tow truck to bring the Yukon to Chevy dealer, because the shifting was getting worse. The dash said “reduced engine power” and couldn’t even get on the flatbed in reverse. Earlier on this week it was barely making it out of the driveway. So now it’s at the Chevy dealer and I’m praying Endurance covers the repair. This is all 6 months after a flush by my local mechanic, not a drop pan and change filter job

I never flush , use only recommended OEM fluids, and never had a problem. I own a Chevy avalanche 2010, and I don’t know when the fluid was changed because no records were kept. So I had a mechanic drop the oil pan change out the filter and not flush because it could possibly force contaminates through the system where they would’ve been just laying in the pan. I also have a 2008 FJ cruiser that I took to Toyota and asked them to do the same. I made sure that they understood not to flush to use only the OEM fluids. When I got the bill, I noticed it was a little bit cheaper that I had expected so I walked over to the Parts department and asked them what fluid did they put in my FJ cruiser. They put in a non-OEM fluid because it was cheaper manufactured by God knows who. I took my next step up to the manager’s office and told him I wanted to have that fluid dumped, and the right stuff put in. After that, there was never a problem with the transmission , there never was before that either. That was two years ago and the FJ cruiser is really bad for transmission shutters problems but mine is fine. Now I have a 2014 Yukon and I plan to change the fluid in it because there are no records again kept by people who did their own work at home or they just didn’t cheap records at the mechanic shops. Again, there will not be a flush because I have no idea if a original recommended transmission fluid change was done. Don’t take my word for Google it. I don’t know if you flushed your system or just had the transmission fluid dropped and I don’t know if you had the OEM fluid put in even though you asked for it. You really gotta watch these people that do the work on your stuff.
One last thing. The reason I bought a third generationYukon Denali. 2014, because it had a tried and tested six speed transmission before they started changing them in later years

Yeah, i took it to Chevy, they diagnosed and said the tranny needs to be replaced. I assume they don’t do rebuilds, but they quoted $7500. Endurance warranty just requested the tranny service receipt that I did in December. I pray they do the right thing and cover the work, no inspector has seen it yet.

UPDATE****So today the extended warranty actually covered the transmission replacement. I was shocked it only took a few days to get the claim approved! But they want to get the tranny and deliver it to the shop, so the dealer has no idea what they’re actually getting. We’ll find out next week!!!

My money is on a used transmission from a junk yard, I hope I'm wrong. Most third party warranties (really aren't warranties at all, just crap insurance policies) aren't worth the paper they are written on.

Insurance/warranty it’s not much difference between em and don’t think one is better than the other. Both aim to collect as much as possible and payout as little as possible. You could probobly negotiate a lower sales price on a new vehicle if you waived your “included” 3yr whatever warranty your car comes with.

Warranties are included with a purchase from the manufacturer free and Insurance is third party and worthless.
