I have 1 24 Yukon Denali Xl 25000 miles passed the Pico test but I know I'm living on borrowed time
Trying to figure out what to do when my lease runs out in May of 27 Go with a diesel or are they coming out with a new gas engine to replace the wonderful 6.2 Not sure how the resale value of a diesel would be
Thanks for any help

Well I guess the nice thing about the lease is you can hand back the keys.

New V8 won’t be in the Yukon until 2028 or 2029 model year. That’s probably also the next gen based on past history. So, still a couple years yet.

I don’t think gas or diesel powered vehicles “resale” value is affected or changes significantly by the type of engine.

Resale value is determined by mileage and condition of the vehicle.
People who want diesel are looking for diesel and people who want gas are looking at gas.

The numbers of people who are looking for a used gasoline truck are probably just higher in numbers so if you look at it that way it will be easier and faster to sell a used gas truck strictly from a statistical perspective.

Bottom line is get what you want and don’t worry about resale based on power plant

I have a 3.0 in my ‘25 truck.. and i have a ‘24 yukon with 5.3

Just filled up the lz0 in nm three or four times.. 5.50 a gallon. And then you add DEF. This lz0 is from a bmw design.. n58. All the chains and belts are in the back of the motor..

The real benefit is the turbo which really helps at high altitude. Downside.. mine got really hot. 240 at its peak. Not good.

I would much rather have a 5.3….

Yeah but unless you’re doing short stop and go trips, the diesel is going to burn the better part of 40% less fuel than gasoline. DEF might add 2-3% to the cost of your fuel consumption. The extended range on each tank alone is worth it to me. So far I’m really enjoying the LZ0 in our ‘26 Denali XL more than the LM2 in the ‘’24 SLT XL we had. Behaves a little more gas like and it does seem to have a tiny bit more get ip and go and a little more pull.

Diesel again for me. Diesel and premium are close in price. My 6.2l (premium gas) was lucky to get 21 mpg on the highway. Diesel always is 30 mpg or better on the highway.

If you’re talking about fuel economy the GM trucks whether gas or diesel are better than most of the other manufacturers especially Honda and Toyota.
Most Newer Toyotas like the Land Cruiser (4 cylinder) Tundra and Lexus GX 550 (6 cylinder) require premium fuel and the EPA numbers are not much different than the GM.
From people I know that have them, they all say fuel economy is worse than the EPA numbers.
Friend of mine loves his Land Cruiser but says it feels underpowered and he never gets better than 16/17 on the highway.
The Honda 6 cylinder is a great engine but it is lucky to see 18 on the highway.
At least the Honda runs fine on regular gas.

The only reason for an oil burner is the longer warranty - 100k vs 60k. that is it...

Unless you're towing, DEF won't cost you $50 a year. I don't even know why people mention it. The positives of the LZ0 far away are greater than the potential negatives of any 6.2 in existence.

And, tows better. And, less expensive to buy. And, less expensive to drive versus 6.2l. I've added 2 jugs of def in 12,000 miles @ $17 per jug. I filled up with diesel yesterday $4.52/gal. Premium (what is spec'd for the 6.2l) at the same station was $4.87/gal.

Well I’m in Canada so I don’t seem to find the $10 DEF jug deals you guys stateside do LOL. Usually about $20-$30 per jug where I am. $30 at the gas station, $20 at Walmart for Blue DEF. Though I see they now also have Platinum Blue DEF for $29.99 lol.

You need to be shopping at Walmart. 8.50 for a jug of DEF. I use about 3-4 a year. They get it in by the skid loads daily. It's never anywhere near close to being old.

If you are ripping through miles like that you are wasting your money on that stuff. I've heard more negatives about it than I've heard positives. All you need is pure DEF..No additives.... Other than at a dispenser there is no cheaper place than Walmart.

Interesting video posted by Greg from Demonworks the other day about the thrust bearing issues on the LZ0. He did a teardown on a failed LZ0 that had thrust bearing issues. It turns out it only had one thrust bearing instead of two. Considering the fact the bearings are the exact same ones used in the LM2, which haven't failed, it makes sense.

Saw the video. He is suggesting that a missing thrust bearing might be the cause of the failures. If that’s the case gm should have figured it out within a handful of teardowns on failed motors, why not say something. Are they that big of a chicken shit operation that they’re afraid to speak up?
