Here in Florida, it's now a criminal offense to go over 100mph and they have arrested a lot of people for it lately. This is not a post to comment on the politics of that law, or whether it's "right" or "wrong." It is, however, a post to simply say going over 100mph is not "just a ticket" in at least Florida, and potentially other states too.

if you are fault then you at fault doesn't matter if it was 5mph or 180mph.
excessive speed is excessive speed, if I get a speeding ticket for doing 125 in a vehicle that was only normally able to do 100 there's no extra bs involved, it's a ticket.
Isn’t there potential for more liability and different type of prosecution if (by chance) they found a driver doing 110 MPH, the tires were rated for 80MPH, failed catastrophically, and then resulted in insure to others? I’m not a lawyer but I think that can result in negligence. Same thing I think can happen if you cause an accident with tires that have insufficient tread on them (in states that have inspections).

If your at fault your at fault, either you get a fine or jail time or increased fine or more jail time if your poor they have nothing to go after, considering how many chances a drunk driver gets nothing surprises me
