I'm nearing 300,000 and I'm wondering how much more life is in my 08 Suburban...
@kbuskill I think Ken's Suburban is well into the 320K range and he just took it across country.
Mine has a ways to go yet, she's in the 220s.
My truck still has all the AFM hardware but it has been tuned out since about 175k miles.All of you guys disable or delete AFM/DOD?

I did a disable at about 275K, but then had a lifter tray crack, allowing the lifter to spin, and it started to wipe out the cam. I caught it pretty quick, and did a new oil pump, new standard cam and all new non-afm lifters. Was running great after all that, and it was a tough decision, but I ended up selling it so I can get one newer and fewer miles.Disabled at 205k, at 237k now.

What is the torque converter issue? And how do you address it?It seems to me that if you can avoid rust and corrosion issues (like someone else said this depends on where you live), and you do a good AFM delete and address the torque converter, there's not really much keeping these things from going indefinitely.
Kinda like a Crown Vic and other very well engineered domestic automobiles made during this era that can trace their lineage back to the 70's and 80's. Just oil, gas, tires and brakes once you address one or two typical issues.

I had one let go in my 2016 Suburban. Zero warning. One day it just stopped moving.
The prescription is the removal of the OEM converter and replacement with a billet one.
That I can't help you with. My transmission shop just included one they said was billet with a reman 6L80 for a total of $5500. Ouch. That truck is now gone (not because of the trans but because it started to ROT OUT at 8 years old).Recommendations on the billet one?
