Are the oils even the same in Europe? I found out a lot of our foods are banned in Europe because of ingredients. I would imagine EU oil having a different make up than oil sold here. I could be completely wrong about EU oil as well
I don't think there's any unique oil composition. My dad's Volvo V90 has about 200,000 km on the clock, which is about 125,000 miles, and runs on 0-20 oil, which is changed every 12,500 miles, and it's doing just fine.

Even the word, “kilometers” is too much to say…...
Canadians just say ‘miles’……. ( and I was born there )

>> hence the word, “klicks”….
We don't use the word "kilometer" in practice. We use the abbreviation KM. In this sense, the word "mile" is longer than "km."

If that were the case, then the engines would have died on some kind of mileage, any significant, well, there are 50 thousand miles, or 75 thousand miles. but not 100 miles, some don't even get to 1,000 miles, or to the first oil change.
On a very regular basis, you bore me.

EU oils have different detergents according to google so it is unique to US oil. My brothers 2012 Tahoe has 257k miles running 0-20 and AFM still operating just fine as well but oil is changed every 5k miles.

Perhaps, but you must admit, not so other oils that it would be possible to eat 3-4 times longer in one oil. Well, okay, by 20-30%, well, twice, this is already a revolution, but 3-4 times...It's like winning a Nobel Prize.

There actually is a difference. Look up 100% synthetic vs Fully Synthetic. Most US oils are not 100% synthetic whereas the euro stuff is.

Hard to do as there is no industry standard for what synthetic means. Group III, IV, and V oils are all considered synthetic here and in many other countries. Europe has tougher standards to control SAPS emissions and their much longer drain intervals.

You say terrible things, the world is collapsing. Are engine oils really so bad in the USA?

Terrible things? Not sure what you mean. Just saying the requirements are different and even the oil mfg's don't recommend using European oil in American vehicles and vice versa. There is nothing wrong with oil from the USA, although you could start a heated discussion on who makes the best oil. Please don't though..... LOL!

Don't get political on this forum, especially when they are true.

Well, in America, thanks to Castrol's lobbying, Group 2+ and Group 3+ can be referred to in adverts as 'synthetic' oil (not just Group 4 & Group 5);
don't know if Europa allows such pierdolisz (did NOT spell that right).

Interesting that bad 25/26 LZ0 diesels are mentioned in the comments. Not sure there is any validity to them though, although there is a TSB out there.

From Perplexity...

"100% synthetic vs Fully Synthetic.

Core answer: The terms “100% synthetic” and “fully synthetic” are often used interchangeably in the motor-oil industry, but exact definitions vary by brand and labeling rules. In practice, most oils labeled as fully synthetic or 100% synthetic are built from synthetic base oils and modern additives, with the distinction sometimes reflecting the base-oil mix rather than overall performance."
