I have a 2012 Yukon with 180,000 miles on it. Was wanted to do some upgrades to make it handle and preform better. My question is is this a financially responsible or just a waste of time and money?

Something's wrong with your spell checker.
wanted to do some upgrades to make it handle and preform better.
*3.42 (if it came with 3.08, maybe) or 3.73 axle (if it came with 3.42, or if you REALLY wanna have serious fun).
Best bang for the buck, improves city MpG & towing MpG, transmission durability & longevity, and smiles per gallon.
Puts more power down to the ground.

*ecm & tcm tune
2nd best bang for the buck, not all benefits are immediately obvious, most obvious is quicker throttle response from both engine & transmission
also helps engine and transmission last longer

*Depending on your road conditions, choose between 17" (superschidty roads) 18" (so so meh roads) or 20" (nice roads) wheels.

*Don't be cheap with your tire choice ...

*If you get 18" wheels, upgrade to 2018 Yukon front brake kit.
If you get 20" wheels, upgrade to 2021 Tahoe PPV front brake kit.

*Then it's about springs shocks and swaybars, again, depends on your road conditions.

*Don't do any intake stuff before exhaust stuff - restrictive exhaust also restricts intake.
Don't go too loud. Maybe buy a used exhaust from an Escalade?
is this a financially responsible or just a waste of time and money?
Up to you. If you overdo it OR underdo it, you will NOT be satisfied. For example, my Bilstein 4600 are too soft, should've gotten 5100.

If you plan to keep it until it dies have fun with it. Assuming the engine, trans, and diff(s) are good read above again. Bottom line is your upgrades won’t add the value you paid for them to your rig at this point but you’ll enjoy them and that’s what matters.

If it's still EASILY daily drivable, it'll keep it's worth far better, far longer.
For example, I'm @ GM OE ride height for an '02 Z71; there are a few Manhattan garages it don't fit in, lifting it would make it tough to sell in NYC.

All great replies above.

Does it have significant rust on it? Regardless of anything else, at the end of the day, rust kills most vehicles.

We're also assuming that your motor and transmission have been well taken care of.

At your mileage, you may want to strongly consider changing your torque converter, before it grenades and destroys your transmission.

Performance - Blackbear Performance motor and transmission tune - $700

Handling - Hellwig sway bars front and rear - $800

At your mileage, there is some risk. No getting around that. But, at 155,000 miles, I supercharged my motor, and it may ultimately destroy the motor. But right now, I'm all smiles.
