I just got news from my local shop (which i do trust) that my rear end is on it way out(i took it to them for a rotational noise and thought it may have been my tires). They quoted me 500 bucks to remove and replace the rear end and 1500 for a good used one. Prices i see online confirm it to be about that price from commercial parts breakers. I was thinking i could find one on FB from someone breaking parts for much cheaper than that. My tahoe is a 4wd 3.73 gear g80. Is the rear end specific to a 4wd or i just need to find another 3.73 g80 from a 2wd if thats even a thing? Is there an easy way to tell what rear end it has? I know there is a code in the glove box for G80 but wasnt sure about the gearing. Truck only has 155k miles and before I got it it was 1 family owned from new.
