Hi all - Wondering if any of the GM owners with Supercruise have issue with their Valentine One going nuts pretty much all the time WITH OR WITHOUT supercruise in operation? I have the first gen Valentine that is fairly old and this is the first vehicle where I have had to disable the laser functionality otherwise it just goes crazy the entire time. K Band seems to have increased sensitivity as well.

Wondering if anyone with a Gen 2 Valentine could weigh in as well to see if you have similar issues or if the new model is better at filtering?

Thanks in advance.

question? is this something that just started happening? or did you have the problem as soon as you put the valentine in the vehicle?
I ask because as a VERY long time owner of several valentine and having bought and sold a lot of them as well, the valentine internal electronics can get goofy from age, valentine charges a flat fee for repair. If you can try to put the valentine in another vehicle without supercruise and see if you get the same results.

I still have a Gen1 as well. Mine was going nuts all the time on a few highways I drive regularly, but I attributed it to the traffic-monitoring radar that I've read is used in some areas/on some roads. After reading some more about it and seeing which band always lit up, I went ahead and disabled the laser band (I think), and that seems to have solved my problem. I don't think the SuperCruise is the culprit here (or doesn't appear to be in my case).

Does supercruise have an IR camera that tracks driver eye movement to ensure driver engagement? If so, that's likely setting off the laser detection on the V1

This is something that happened the first day I bought the truck (~2 months ago). I have put it in other vehicles and it does not have this issue with the laser function enabled.

Granted this is a Sierra Denali Ultimate, it was previously in a 2022 Yukon Denali without SC (obvi.) but had adaptive cruise and as soon as I put it in the new truck the V1 laser goes nuts every 10-20 seconds. I disabled Laser detection for now so I can still use it but I'd like to have that back if possible. Have you used the new V2? Wondering if the newer software has the ability to filter this out?

A couple of additional details: When I completely turn off SC and even adaptive cruise laser still goes crazy at the same interval. Wondering if @replacedanaudi is correct in that is has something to do with the infrared on the SC interior camera. I'll upgrade to the V2 if I could confirm this won't be a problem.

Yes it does have an infrared camera to track the driver's eyes. This could very well be the issue because I disabled SC, Adaptive Cruise and even the parking sensors and laser still goes crazy. The camera must be running a scan every 10-20ish seconds which triggers the V1 or at least this seems like the best guess at the moment.

Use your cell phone camera to take video of the driver facing IR camera. I'd bet it shines an IR light repeatedly, which sets off the V1. A V2, or any detector, will likely have the same issue.

You can confirm by covering the ir camera with a few layers of blue painter tape (won't leave a residue).

I have not used a v2 but it is "supposed" to have better laser filtering, I prefer my v1 though any day or I would have switched a long time ago I have used the v1 for almost 30 years I do not like the design of the v2

yes the v1 is highly susceptible to IR interference
