I don’t think I’ll do all of that. Lol. Something crazy would happen and I would probably burn it up

We could hear it come on and it was getting fuel to the regulator on the rails. There wasn’t any gas to the rails at all before that.

The fuel pump should kick on for 3-5 seconds when ignition is switched to run.(Prime) During crank position the fuel pump is on full time. Listen for the fuel pump to turn on when someone switches the ignition to run for you. You can pull the gas cap and hear it really good that way, while NOT smoking.
The pump doesn’t come on at all. We had it come on once when it was hot wired.

So what I’m thinking is when the switch is turned on, it’s not sending the signal to the fuel pump to turn on.

I don’t know. This is making me real curious about finding it out. My son needs his vehicle soon so I’ll probably have it taken to the shop before too long.

If theres pressure behind the regulator then the pump works, consider the regulator has failed.

is it possible that there is a problem under or at the fuse block? Might have to lift the upper half of the fuse assembley from the mating half under the hood and look for corrosion or some burn indications that would not show on top with the fuses, just a thought.

Holy smokes Batman. At your troubleshooting rate, that vehicle will be worth a fortune in antique value as the GM C/K chassis will be in Generation 35.

You need to go back to post#8 and follow those initial troubleshooting steps at the fuel pump relay. I have the feeling you work your way back from there and you will also discover the same reason why your starter aint a spinning too.

Lol. I work long hours and I really don’t have a lot of time to mess with it. But if we can’t figure it out this coming weekend, it’s getting hauled to the shop.

Understood, but it's all the more reason to use your time efficiently. Plan the work, and work the plan.
Is it your understanding that the OP has good power waiting to get the fuel pump at the relay contacts since it works when jumped. No Starter action whatsoever. This is ALL control side problem in the ignition circuit or PCM since he is NOT getting fuel pump relay closure and starter S terminal is not getting 12v likely either. OP seems overwhelmed and cant keep from jumping around which is just further confusing him. If he would just stay on track and do some simple voltage checks this will likely turn out to be 2hrs tops to figure out the cause.

Yes on the fuel pump control missing is my thought; at least that's the view I'm getting.

I'm not really quite sure about the starter issue, which is why I suggested bypassing the starter relay. If the starter cranks when doing that, it's totally a control issue, as you've noted.

Ok. I took half the day off to try and trouble shoot it and it started right up.

Could it be the security system causing it to lock itself out?

The OE security system will allow the engine to crank and start, but if it's in play it won't run more than a few seconds.

If there's an aftermarket security system on it, all bets are off.

Hmmm. It did something like this once before. A few months ago. Due to another part busting last summer, he filled the radiator up with water to get it home. He never drained it and filled with antifreeze. We had a cold snap for a few days a few months ago and it wouldn’t crank. Changed battery and thought it froze up but the radiator plug wasn’t blown out. Then magically 5-6 days later it started. Just like this time.
