I am building a High Country 2025 tahoe and I'm not a fan of their packages and add-on items in terms of how they are added/packaged together. For example, If I select the option to add the rear camera mirror, it adds the rear media system, as well, which I don't want.

To be a bit more specific, I'm looking for a 2025 HC that has air suspension but no media screens. I've found a decent amount of vehicles that have what I want (color, wheels and air suspension) but those options all seem to include rear media screens.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how else to search/build so I can have the tahoes with rear media eliminated from the build results?

I dont think its possible. Do you have a good salesman? If so, ask them.

Online build sites have been known to be incorrect, though.

I thought I did, but he isn't very responsive.

The ‘21-‘24 build configurator was a lot more flexible than the ‘25. Albeit some options were in packages, but there wasn’t the crazy restrictions we’re seeing on the ‘25.

Currently they won’t let you get a diesel without other options i.e. super cruise and they won’t let you get the diesel on the Chevy base trim (LS). Then there’s the restrictions you’re coming up against…

I’m glad I bought my ‘22 YXL SLE diesel when I did. The least expensive configuration I can get now in the ‘25 is a Suburban LT diesel at $75K. I paid $61K at the end of ‘22…

I understand if certain 'features' require something else, but not being able to pick certain things that aren't tied to other components seems a bit odd.

For example, there should be an option that says 'delete rear seat media' in addition to other things you want to delete.

If I were getting more assistance from the salesman I wouldn't care so much about the configuration tool.

Sounds like you need a new salesman. A good one will know everything about the ordering process.

That being said…i still think you are screwed as far as packaged options goes. Even if they make no sense. Its just the way they are doing it now. Dumb.

Especially at busy dealerships., salesman don't want to do anything that require them to research things or ask questions up the line. They basically look at the same things you look at. at maybe a little bit different level, but they usually come back with the same results. There aren't many shortcuts in being able to order something special. It isn't Burger King. You take it their way, or you don't get it.

If you can get a good salesman there is some flexibility to get around the packages. To get a sunroof only came with a 3K+ package with rear seat entertainment. He checked and I was able to add a few options individually that were in the SUN and fun package. Sun roof and Navigation were two. I added sunroof and received as ordered. Saved over 2k

I doubt you can. The camera mirror on a HC is standard.
I want a hc with max towing package. But I can’t get that without a sun roof, which I totally don’t want. That one hiccup has prevented me from ordering two 25’s. I’ve talked to my salesman several times about this. We are both waiting to see if Chevy will unmarry those options. My guy is a 40 year Chevy salesman and he’s asked up the line about this.

I haven't seen a HC w/o a sunroof, but yes, I understand what you are saying in terms of asking for specifics.

HC with the rear mirror camera is standard (I think). You don't need to have the rear media/technology package. I drove a 25 HC last week that had the rear camera mirror (which btw is overrated and it made me sick/nauseous) and did not have the rear entertainment package. This model DID have the High Country deluxe package (air ride suspension, etc).

I guess that was a bad example. My point was that if you add the rear camera mirror during the build process it adds the rear seat entertainment. That's not the only build issue, either, just a quick one I used, which seems to have been a bad example.

Ultimately, I'd like to see the option to show me inventory that does not include rear seat media, that would be very helpful that way I could look at the results and find vehicles that don't have that option. Right now I have to click on each result (that I'm interested in) and look to see if rear media is included, which takes a lot of time.

Go to the dealer and talk to them. They have powers that you don't have online. Also, you can have them program the daytime running lights so you can use them or NOT. This is a common software setting when selling vehicles to anyone in government.

I started at the dealer and my salesman wasn't very helpful. I think he means well, but he didn't really do anything until I asked him a few times. I might have to try another dealer, but I didn't want to go that route since I've been to this dealer, previously, when I purchased my current vehicle from him.

Also, I don't really want to wait 16 weeks (or longer) so that's another reason why I don't want to order from the dealer.

To be clear, I have no problem using the chevy site builder to give me a list of models that match my criteria. I've found at least 5 vehicles that are local that I would buy other than they all have rear seat media which I don't want.

That being said, I still can decide on a few things which is also keeping me from custom ordering one even if I did convince myself to wait the 16 weeks.

GM is pretty much pushing the rear seat entertianment on you if you take any of the techy stuff like super cruise, etc....My gut says it is a way to push you to keep subscribing to OnStar Data, so you have a way to light up those screens. So glad there was a shortage on them when I bought in 2022. Past the kid hauling years..so don't need or want RSE..but like all the other goodies.

Good luck...but they do have a lot of packages tied together these days.

Can you elaborate on the DRLs? Do people want those disabled?

High County Deluxe package seems to add everything except for the rear media crap.
