2024 Tahoe HC 6.2L - 30,000 miles

the truck has a small but noticeable vibration between 30 - 33 mph and between 50-52 mph. The vibration only occurs at light throttle, but as soon as throttle is increased, it goes away. It feels like a torque converter issue, but without the ability to see the lockup percentage I cannot tell for sure. Also, the vibration is more noticeable in the passenger seat that the driver’s.

And the dealer has no idea what is causing the vibration.

Anyone have any ideas what is causing this or anyone have a similar experience?

On my 2023 5.3 I had similair issue. (DFM) can you try running it in manual shift mode and run up to 8th gear only see if it still does it. in 8th DFM is disabled. on mine it was cylinder deactivation. almost felt like driving over rumble strips.

There’s an aftermarket solution now if that’s it.

Thank you. I did not think about the DFM being the issue.

Have you used the aftermarket solution?

The Range disabler fixed the vibration.
This almost certainly means that it's a cylinder deactivation issue that goes away once it's a real V8 again.

Just checking: did you temporarily uninstall the Range plug-in, to see if the vibes came back?

No need. My 2021 did the same as OP described. And after the Range module it’s smooth as can be. DFM is such garbage the engines run so much better without it.

In principle / theory, DFM cylinder valve deactivation is a better idea than AFM.
In practice, the parts are simply not robust enough to withstand real world variables,
especially when compared to always-V8 lifters and such.
GM restarted cylinder valve deactivation AGAIN in 2004.
After 20 years, they STILL haven't bothered to improve the pertinent hardware?
I think GM is deliberately trying to make their engines die (or suck HARD) before 200,000 miles.

I've noticed some vibration in our '19 now in V4 mode. Before this I couldn't know if it was cruising in 4 or 8 cyl. without looking at the DIC. I'm now at 30K miles, not looking too good on the long run I'm guessing.

At a minimum, find some way to disable Engine Half@$$ ...
Your engine and transmission will last longer for it.

I have a 2024 Yukon Denali 6.2 liter and get vibrations on the highway when cruising (4 cylinder) Also is pronounced when going around turns on the highway. just had road force balance and only5500 miles. dealership says they cant feel it but they never took it on the highway. $87k. not happy

The Range device when on my 2024 at 275 miles and not looking back.

I think once the vehicle ages and gets miles on it, small variation of the DFM start to be felt. Bushings are hardening, wear is happening, performance is slightly deteriorating and all these factors along with more butt time in the seat and you may notice things that were unclear before. Even the exhaust hangers hardening can all the exhaust system to vibrate and become noticeable.

Make sure you get tires rotated if this has not been done yet, do about every 6000 miles. While road force balancing can be a good thing, these balancers often do not pick up bent wheels. Only if the tire tech is good and paying attention looking for a bent wheel and knows what a bent wheel looks like.

As mentioned, put the transmission in 9th manually and this should keep the DFM from operating and you could maybe feel the difference.

You really don't feel the vibrations when the engine is operating in a rolling 4/5/6/7/8 cylinder operation with DFM. It's only when it gets down to 3 cylinder operation at very light cruise that it's noticeable. I've had a few come through with that complaint. It is what it is unless you run around in L9 or buy a Range.

I absolutely have the same problem and have had it since I received the truck. It has been in the shop 10+ times and they claim to not feel it and say that's how its supposed to drive. Its getting to the point where I may have to take legal action.

Need to understand that there are "Vibrations" and there are other things that feel like "vibrations" that are caused by uneven power delivery.

I have found the newer 6.2l and probably the 5.3l as well, but I have not driven one, have uneven power delivery due to the DFM and at least the 6.2l has a very poorly implemented ignition timing map that causes what feels like misfires or an engine vibration when tipping into the throttle the timing is being pulled back which kills a lot of power.

The other thing that can happen is the exhaust system can vibrate and resonate as well causing noise and vibrations to couple back into the cabin. Often if the exhaust system is under tension and has not been hung in a "relaxed" position, this can occur.

Sure there may be torque converter related problems, but I have not seen much of this, the DFM and the poorly implemented ignition timing maps seem to be more of an everyday problem for these vehicles.

Look at your left rear half shaft at the wheel end… some trucks were put together where the break line can drag the outer rubber of the cv. My cv was gone at 9k… causing vibration at hwy speed….
