2019 Tahoe 5.3 6spd. Sometimes at idle i can hear a ticking noise that literally sounds like the second hand on an old plastic wall clock. Also can relate it to the sound of a solenoid opening and closing. once per second and really only noticable at idle.

I crawled underneat and it sounds like it is the rear of the engine/bellhousing area, but could be anywhere on the centerline of the tahoe. Does not seem to be related to engine speed.

Things seem to be normal, but still adjusting to the noise these new 5.3s make. not as quiet and smooth sounding as my 08.

Thanks

Probably the injectors. Take a long extension or a mechanic's stethoscope and poke around but watch those moving parts! With the extension or long screwdriver, you stick one end to your ear and the other against the suspect parts.

I hear the same thing on my 18 Tahoe. It’s coming from underneath just as you described. It’s not related to engine speed. Almost coming from transmission. It’s a steady ticking. I have no clue what it is. Truck makes all sorts of noises

I have a '19 Hoe 5.3 / 6 Spd also.
Mine makes the same ticking sound, mostly noticeable when I first start it cold. It's done it from day one. Definitely not as quiet as the older ones.

definitely not the injectors, while they are also noisy as crap, this is definitely something in or around the bell housing, not related to engine speed. sounds like a few others have it as well, I am sure its not anything crazy, but I am very OCD with noises, especially ones i cannot find a source for.

Will probably ask the dealer next time its in for the complimentary oil change

I heard this too on cold start up. I think it may be the exhaust heating up the cats...

I thought someone put a bomb under the truck. It tick every second, I timed it. And yes these newer gm suburban and Tahoe have all kinds on weird normal noises.

So consensus says its normal... another weird thing to keep an ear out for. I am super OCD when it comes to noises on my vehicles. I get worked up over noises I cannot point my finger at. As much as this 2019 is similar to my 2008, there is definitely a whole new world of "normals" the new 5.3 and 6 speed bring to the table. Definitely enjoy the new Tahoe though.

Pretty sure its a high pressure fuel pump. Mine does this. Its loud it literally ticks every second and doesn’t speed up with throttle. I ran a stethoscope everywhere when I had it raised, the ticking was especially loud on the fuel line headed up to the bay. I’m guessing its loudest in the back on the passenger side?

Same ticking for my 2015. Been doing it since day 1. Never an issue.

I believe I am familiar with the idle ticking. It is consistent on my 2019 5.3 and a relative's 2018 5.3.

Never realized how loud the ticking was in the hot months until I pulled up to the drive thru window at the bank and dropped my window. In that partly enclosed area it was really loud.

My Tahoe makes the same noise from the same area? I was told it was the Exhaust manifold bolt being loose. Do you have a video at all of the noise?
