23 Yukon Denali, Dead battery, won’t start from day 1. SOS

Took delivery 3 days ago.
200 miles on the clock, battery has been dead every time from day 1.
Charged overnight, 2x50 mile trips didn’t help.
The only thing that gets the Yukon to start is a live jump.

Has anyone experienced this ? Once started codes clear, drives fine.

It's probably something draining it. But since it's new, take it to the dealer and have them check it out.

Agreed, the battery probably got run down at the Dealer. Since it will not charge back up definitely have them replace it with a new battery. My 2022 Denali has been doing just fine. 10k miles on it now.

Mine did the same thing. Picked it up in October of 2022. Then randomly 3 or 4 days after pick up with no signs of dead battery just showed "Steering Colum Lock Service". Weird thing was it powered up all accessories just wouldn't start. Took it to local dealer, they charged it up and was fine for roughly 6 months. Recently on a road trip accidentally drained the battery while waiting for a ferry in Seattle and even after driving it 500+ miles around, it never charged back up to normal. Took it to dealer and had them swap the battery out. Dealer documentation showed battery health was 0%. Hopefully this fixes it. But we have been carrying a NOCO jump pack in the Denali since the 1st incident and it came in really handy recently. Hoping the new battery fixes it all. Good luck with your truck outside of the battery, these things are awesome. Not that it matters but I have the 3.0L Duramax.

I’m taking it into GMC Bellevue today. Let’s hope it’s just the batter.

I suspect the current Delcos aren't what they used to be. Had a new battery put in our '19 as a PM deal. Charges at 15 volts a lot of the time, never goes into the low charge deal on long trips like it did before. From what I read that is a sulfate deal for a battery that has been sitting for a good while. Took back to the dealer and they say there's nothing wrong. Hope they do you right and get it fixed. Might get a voltage tester and plug it in the power outlet, monitor the charge rate if there's any doubt.

A test on a carbon pile tester would tell you for sure.
The load test you suggest would tell the state of the battery, but there is a need to look beyond this. The dealer should check for battery drain. This can be done by disconnecting the battery terminal and attaching a amperage meter and observing the current flow when the vehicle is parked and has been inactive for a while. When the electrical system has gone to sleep, there should be less than 50 milliamps current. Not sure of the exact spec. 25 milliamps is better. If it is 100 milliamps or more, there is a problem. Something is not shutting down and is causing a drain. To isolate the problem and find the drain, you can pull one fuse at a time until there is a response on the test meter. Whatever the problem, let the warranty handle it.

I face the exact issue from the day 1 that l receive the car in the showroom,

Finally they told I me that my car is the 4th car that have same issue ( as GM said to them) ,the probelme because of computer module of the car or full fuse box.

In my case they change the fuse box of the car.


But, I disappointed with the car after all what happened to me and I refund all my money from the dealer.

Still I am scare to buy again new Tahoe or Yukon.

My 2022 Yukon has been to shop because of dead battery 3 times. Currently in shop and they do not know what the problem is. Also don't have Park Assist chip yet. 13500 miles on it purchased, new in October 2022, ordered in Nov. of 2021.
