What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Looking for an HD hood for The Beast. My clear coat on the cowl hood I installed and had painted 6 1/2 years ago is apparently at its end of life according to my friend who painted it. Which reeaally makes me mad as fck. He told me that the aftermarket products he can buy aren’t as good as the factory stuff so they don’t last nearly as long. I didn’t even know what to say. He owns a body shop and has done this for 20-30 years so all I could do was listen to him tell me why he won’t repaint it for free. Anyway, the Goodmark cowl hood was never the best product imo. It might have been my fault for not greasing the hinges but one day I went to shut it and it bent slightly near the hinges. I can see where it happened, it’s slightly dented. So I’m thinking it might be time to try the HD hood conversion. Since mines a Yukon, I’ll have to trim the areas around the headlights. So far the nearest used one I can find is 2.5 hrs each way. Argh.

Damn. Sorry to hear this man. And what a drag about your friend with the body shop. On a positive note, I think an HD hood will look on the Beast. Although, doing the work to cutout the lights has always seemed like a huge PITA. Looking forward to some details on it. Unless I were planning a full repaint, I don’t think I’d ever go there, but if I had the funds available for that, it would be in the works!

Just gave it a good wash after a couple of weeks of snow/sleet/rain in DFW. Now keeping it in the garage until this weeks storms pass.

I’m about 25 miles away from hitting 250,000. Exciting!

I found a bunch of YT videos. Cutting it isn’t hard, welding and filling the underside where the inside layer gets cut might be.

Big maintenance day today. Rear brake pads (a little overdue...), driver front hub assembly, and power steering pump replacement.

Couple nights ago in some snow on my folks property, slid into some electric fence (it was off). Wrapped around the front suspension, so I had the wife cut the wheel all the way to one side. Well meaning and unbeknownst to me, she was holding pressure on the steering at full lock because she was afraid it was trying to spring back and didn't want my hand to get pinched. By the time I noticed the whining getting louder, it was too late. PS was dead.

Oh well! Back in the road again and better than before.

Thanks to you guys I was able to find an OEM fan harness and fans off a forum member, much appreciated.
Lots to do this spring, S&B body mounts and other cosmetic goodies since she earned it after all the mechanical work I have done.
I called S&B i ordered two kits that contained 6 mounts each for a total of 12, and also 2 extra bolts which makes a complete set for an suv.
The kit part number is 81-2000 and the bolts are AI2365-00

Looks like a 2500HD hood is getting hard to come by around here. I had found a used one 2.5 hours from me, called the yard and they said somebody removed it, threw it on the ground and wrecked it. New ones are not in stock anywhere even at the new inflated price of $800. Amazon has one for $1000 shipped… no thanks.

Today I replaced the LEDs in the steering wheel buttons that I had recently soldered in with light bulbs because I didn't like the bright color and the poor dimmability.

Keep searching. They also came a lot on work trucks, the type with the utility body.

Can it be made to fit the Denali headlights? I thought those would only work with the classic cat-eye headlights.

Let us know about the fitment on the bumper stuff. I'd like to get some and have them painted to match to ditch the chrome on my 2004 LT. Never understood what years/models had color matched but I like it better.

I think the Z71s are the only ones that came painted.

Finished changing the plugs and wires. She's at 115,000 and the only record of them being changed was in '07 with 20,000. The driver side took about twice as long as the passenger, including number 8. The number 8 wire just fell off after I barely grabbed the boot, but didn't have a misfire.

Yeah that’s because the non-cateyes were only on the 01-02’s. And now GM has discontinued the OEM ones.
