This is the beginning of my Overland build ...07 SSV Tahoe I picked up a cpl years ago at auction with only 75k mi..... I use it for work everyday but also want to off road it as well....especially after reading about some of the builds on this forum.

I am not overly concerned with having all brand new shiny parts on it so I will spare $'s and invest where most needed...starting with a used set of pro comp 17x9 in wheels... $300.00 for the set with a new set of 245 Bridgestone AT'S... With what I saved there I spent more on the tires I wanted... 315/70/17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. I had a mobile wheel polisher come over and polish the wheels out and I mounted and balanced them at my friends shop.... I bought the Rough Country 3.5 in lift and the RC 3.5 IN longer loaded struts and rear shocks so I didn't have to use the front strut spacers or the rear shock extension's.....I left the front swayer off as well. I installed the lift in my garage.... (fun) did the nor cal mod to the front fenders but since I only went 3.5 in I will need to mod a little more.. I didn't want to lift the truck real high because they are kinda top heavy so I knew I was going to have to really clearance the front fenders.... Also cut off the front skirt. I have a pre-runner style frt bumper I may use but I also have a steel bumper off of a Jeep with a winch mount I may go with instead.... This is just the beginning!

Update: not much but I had the front aligned at a local off road & fab shop.... they did an excellent job.... even though I thought it drove pretty good after installing the lift the alignment machine showed otherwise .... it tracks straight and steers nice now..... The Nitto Ridge Grappler tires are great , little to no road noise and along with the RC suspension the ride is nicer than stock.... As expected I still need to mod the rear of the front fenders more... I am contemplating the rough country behind the bumper hidden winch mount plate Which is designed for the Silverado 1500 .... should work since I have cut the skirt off and then I can run the light weight pre runner bumper. Looking at cargo racks for the roof, I picked up a stock Tahoe roof rack but I just found a used gobi cargo rack that look like it bolts directly to the roof.... didn't buy it yet but considering...IMG-6814.jpg

@Eric P Just get a 2nd gen Tahoe z71 roof rack. Direct bolt on and much beefier than the stock 3rd gen roof racks.

Also depending on how stretched the rear suspension is it might be worth looking to an adjustable panhard bar. After about 2 inches of lift the rear axle will become off-center.

Thanks, I will look into that.

I totally agree with Justin Jackson. A 2005 Z-71 rack will bolt right up. Put one on my 2008. Does yours have the roof nut zerts? If not, then maybe any rack you want since you will have to put in mounting points.

Cool truck!
