Hi
I have a 2022 Tahoe LT (Dmax) with 20 stock wheels. I’m planning to pick up a set of wheels and tires to get ready for the Colorado winter. Wondering what other folks are running on their rides? Appreciate any feedback. Thx

Blizzaks on the cheapest rim that will work for you. Got mine all set up from tire rack. Easiest, Fastest, best solution. DM-V2 best all around winter tires out there.

Been surfing Facebook Marketplace for some take offs, actually bought a set of 20’s off a Silverado, but don’t care for them so much. Hope to find a set of 20” AT4 wheels to run.

Factory 18” Silverado takeoff wheels will clear the calipers, right? I’ve got a set of 500-mile Blizzaks from our Expedition I wanna run on this ‘22 Burb we just picked up.

I don’t think 18’s will clear…they might though. Seemed pretty tight w/ the 20’s on there. The big thing is the 28mm offset and the spoke shape to clear the caliper…check it, but it may be marginal.

Lot's of owners have two sets of wheel & tires; One set for summer and one set for winter. Since you live in Colorado you guys see a lot more snowfall than most other areas. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to have a dedicated winter wheel set-up with some Blizzaks.

As @Stbentoak mentioned: Find the cheapest set of wheels that you know will fit and put the best snow tire on there you can! Or even better, cruise FB marketplace, eBay, and craiglist for lightly used wheels OEM or aftermarket.

I had wondered this as well. With the '21 + T1XX models having the larger 4-piston front calipers I'm not sure an 18" rim will fit. I believe that currently when you are building out a '21 + Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade the smallest diameter wheel you can get is a 20". Even building out an Yukon AT4 or Tahoe Z71 model they have standard 20" wheels.

That being said a the Sierra AT4 and Silverado Trail Boss model trucks have 18" wheels and they have the same front 4 piston brake set up as the SUV's. So if you're dead set on 18" wheels you could find some AT4 or Trail Boss take-offs and I'm sure they'd work. Out of curiosity I looked at the Chevrolet Silverado WT's (Work Trucks) and they come with 17" wheels. I wasn't able to confirm if the Silverado Work Trucks have the 4-piston front brakes as standard, but I would be very surprised if they didn't.

I have a 2021 high country suburban with factory 22 inch wheels. Factory spare is an black aluminum alloy 17 inch wheel. 265/70r17 is the spare tire size. I believe backspacing is the issue with some non factory 17 inch wheels not the rim diameter.

17” wheels definitely fit if you don’t have big brake package. Several forum members running 17” wheels.

Last years snow setup - I bought a set of AT4 replica wheels for my wife’s Denali. I added BFG’s. This year I think I’ll steal the BFG’s for my Z71 Burb and put Blizzaks on her Denali. I will say the Denali with the BFG’s and the capability package was a monster in the snow. I expect the same from my Suburban.

At4 wheels are 20” - BFG’s are the factory size 275/60r20.

Summer setup is the factory black 22” wheels with stock tires.

Someone could easily run the 18” wheel from the Sierra At4 or ZR2 for that matter. I just couldn’t because of the accessory brake package.

I've had good luck with Hankook IPikes that are studded. Also good luck with Nokian's that are not studded. Any brand/model snow tire will be like years better than regular all season's. I prefer the studded type - weather you have studs or not as i think they wear longer/better than the super soft non-studded type new winter tires. They are superior tire for sure but wear quick - especially if you're in the front range that can see 60-70-80 degree days easily in the spring/fall....

I have a 2022 yukon xl factory 20s with no big break kit. I'm located in NS Canada so we get lots of snow.
I just ordered a set of 17" black steel wheels from Costco. I am having a problem finding a size tire that is +/- 3% comparable to the stock 275/60R20.
The spare is 265/70R17 which is +/-4.2% which means speedometer reads 110km/h when really only going 105km/h.
My plan is to get a set of Michelin X-ICE 265/70R17 for a winter set.

Would all agree that would be the best option?

other option is a set of BFG KO2's but I feel the XICE is the best ?

I think XICE or Blizzak's are the best, from running them on my other vehicles.
Main thing is ensure the load ratings are sufficient for this heavy beast...

KO2’s don’t even compare to real winter tires. In fact I don’t think they compared to my Duratracs either. Best snow car Ive had was aMercedes 4matic with Vredstein Wintrac Pros. Unreal in snow. Way better than my Rubiconwith Duratracs.

I ended up ordering a set of 20" black steel wheels from costco and pairing them with stock size Michelin X-Ice tires 275/60R20. Dealer has back order for tire sensors so found some on fb marketplace off a silverado I will pair after the install.

Necro’ing this thread after a year … but looking to get some 20” wheels with Blizzaks for the winter - need snowflake-rated tires to get up to Mount Hood.

The real question is: for those who wheel swap winter/summer setups, do you need to do anything special or just literally swap and go?

You need another set of TPMS sensors...it is basically swap and go, assuming you follow the TPMS Sensor Matching Process -- Auto Learn Function from the Owner's Manual. I have never actually done this, as my tire shop always handles for me when I swap them.

Also attached a pic of the 20's from a Sierra I picked up from a guy last year about this time, they had 200 miles on them...got them for $800 for the set.

Hi, I'm from Russia, we change tires every six months. in October we put on winter tires, in April we put on summer tires. You don't need to do anything, just remove the tire from the rim and slide it onto the rim. and balance the wheel assembly. It seems like the T1 generation itself prescribes tire pressure sensors, but to calm things down, I force the technician to mark the rims, keeping their location on the car.

We don’t like the Blizaak Bridge)))) I tried terrible oak tires for winter, they hum at minus temperatures and slide)))) for warm climates this is probably the best)

I've had great luck w/ Blizzaks here in Minnesota...They do have a bit more road noise than the stock Alenza's, but hardly notice it. Winter temps here range from -20F (-28C) to about 30F (-1C), with most of January never seeing above 20F (-7C). Traction and Performance much improved over all seasons. They will be going on in about a month, and coming off about April 1.

Yes, I looked up the Minnesota climate. Very similar to ours))) But I prefer studded tires. Powerful, toothy, because there is often a transition through 0 temperatures, and there is ice on the roads)
