Long time lurker / First time poster

Welp, my wife completely demolished one of our 22” wheels on our 2025 Suburban RST. I kinda knew this was going to happen and now I need to figure out what route I want to take. I think ideally, I would like to go smaller wheel/larger tire. I have a 2024 Colorado ZR2 with 285/70 R17 wheels and tires that I think might look good on the RST, but I’m not sure. Do you guys think those will fit? I have the air suspension, if that matters much. I’m hoping 17’s clear the calipers. If that works, I’ll probably upgrade the ZR2 wheels and tires to 35”s.

If that doesn’t sound good to you guys, do you have a recommendation for an aftermarket setup that looks and works good? Want to go smallest wheel diameter that makes sense, and largest tire that will work.

Any negatives you can think of with a taller sidewall with these rigs? I don’t want it to ride like an absolute boat, but a less jarring ride also sounds nice.

Thanks in advance! These are the wheels I’m considering.

I’ll give it a shot once the wife’s work schedule lines up with mine. That’s the complicated part right now. Lol.

If your front brakes are 4piston caliper with 13.50" rotors, (I'm almost sure that) you must use at least 18" wheels.
275/70R18 , 265/70R18 , or 255/75R18 are damn close to 275/50R22. Don't know if you need tcm reprogramming to go with a larger tire or not ...

If your 17" wheels clear your 4piston calipers and spin, do this forum and every Tahoe/Yukon/Suburban/XL/ESV/Silverado/Sierra owner for the past 25 years a favor:
TAKE LOTS OF PICS DAMNT!
If you manage to grind off the 4piston calipers' excess material and make your 17" wheels work with 'em (quite a bit of unneeded excess material for casting ease!),
TAKE LOTS OF PICS DAMNT!
It'd be earth shattering news.

There are other size wheels and tires for your year of truck, 18" and 20". If you keep the overall diameter the same as the original tires you shouldn't need any programming, I don't think there is any available. I went with a 285 45 22 Michelin Cross Climate 2 because I wanted that tire and they don't offer it in the 275 50 22 size. It is a touch shorter than my original size.

I like the Cross climate tires a lot— put them on the better half’s 4runner. I may try the 275 50 20s next time I swap my tires

I believe Yukon and Colorado have different lug spacing. 6x139.7 vs 6x120.

I have 17” wheels on my 2007 Yukon and “boat float” is real.
The 2024 and newer colorado use the same bolt pattern as the 1/2 tons. The wheels are interchangeable up to 2020 on the SUVs, not sure about 2021 and newer tho

Something to add, I just looked at the factory spare and it is 17”. So I’m hopeful the ZR2 wheels will fit! My only worry is the crunch crunch crunch I may hear when the air suspension lowers

If the GM OE spare 17" wheel & tire fits over the 4 piston calipers,
pics or it didn't happen ...

I don’t know man… IMO the ‘21+ body lines are so much taller than previous gen’s that even 22” rims just look small on them.

There’s a few lightly used options on eBay for $400+/-.

No doubt.
There are presently 2 concerns about the 4piston calipers:
several 18" wheels (mostly GMT900 / GMTK2) don't fit on the calipers without either spacers,
or grinding off the (considerable) excess caliper material.

I'm crazy enough to ask if enough excess casting can be ground off the 4piston caliper to fit over any GMT900 17"ers.

Thank you so much for sending this. I was having a really hard time finding used wheels. Mainly because I was just looking at FB marketplace. GM is asking like $700+ for a new wheel, which is just crazy.

I’m starting to rethink my crazy idea of fitting the 17”s on. Lol

You can even find aftermarket replicas that may be cheaper and buy a few for the ‘next time’ cuz by the sounds of it there will be a ‘next time’ ;)

Tons of Replica wheels in all shapes and sizes on eBay. I run a set of 20” trail boss replica on my Tahoe. And I have a set of z71 style replica 22” wheels on my wife’s suburban.

Those who like the Michelin Cross Climate 2’s should look at the Goodyear Weather Ready 2. I have never been a Goodyear guy but they have been excellent for my wife and they come in the factory size.
