"Our 22" Wheel will be out to far as we max our backspacing out to 4.5" , However we can do our 20x9 with a 5.75" Backspace which will tuck and be just inside the fender ."

That was their response to my email.
They clearly dont m ow what they are talking about. The 22” wheels have nearly 6” of backspacing. They are basically the same offset/backspacing as the 20”.

I would say that Detroit Steel Wheel clearly DOES know what they are talking about. An 1.5" difference in backspacking/offset is far from "basically the same".

IIRC the 22” OEM GM wheels offered for the K2XX gen SUVs/Trucks (possibly other generations) are offered in 2 offset sizes.

22” x 9” + 24
22” x 9” + 31 (maybe it's +30)

Here is a wheel diagram of 22” x 9” +24 w/ OEM 285/45/22 tires:

Backspacing of 151mm = 5.944”

Here is a wheel diagram of 22” x 9” +31 w/ OEM 285/45/22 tires:

Backspacing of 158mm = 6.220”

So what Detroit Steel is saying is that on their 22" steel wheels with their MAX back spacing they offer at 4.5" that wheel will stick out further than OEM wheels by roughly 1.5" (1-15/32"). Sticking out 1.5" would mean the wheels would poke out past the fender and stick out. Which would be an ok fitment if your truck was lifted or maybe even stock height, but you're not. Your truck is lowered by a fair amount. At your current static ride height you will want wheels that fit more towards the flush or even tucking inside the fender, not poking out past the fender.

Their 22” x 9” with backspacing at 4.5" is equivalent to a 22" x 9" with a -13 offset. Roughly. I say “roughly” because of conversions between metric and imperial dimensions.

Backspacing of 114mm = 4.488”

So your options do seem to be limited. There aren’t many steel wheel mfg that offer 22” diameter that fit our platform in a lowered application.

If you’re dead set on the steel wheel look there is an option.

You could paint or powder coat these any color you want. Not sure what the offset is (I’m sure it could be found with some more searching) but they’re “kinda” OEM so they fit. It’s also likely that one of the GM 6-bolt center caps from Detroit steel wheel would possibly fit these wheels as well.

EDIT:
Here’s a old thread from another forum with some pics of them on some newer gens, but still not on the K2XX.

I did see on another forum a member had listed them as 22” x 9” +24 offset. Also on the link above you can some users did fit a center cap on them.

What are you talking about…they are nearly identical. They are nowhere near 1.5” different.

Nice! Definitely confirms my want to colormatch my 22s.
Lol it does look color matched right?!

These are actually black. But it’s almost like they take on the color. Ended up being a great combo with my color.

Here’s a day shot

Of course, those in the know can tell they're not actually color matched. But, that's only when you specifically look to compare. Looking at the vehicle overall, they're a really good fit, especially considering that's their as-is color. You did very well on this one.

I'm curious, though- do they look even more like the body color when they're wet? I'm wondering if a simple glossy clear coat would be a good cheat.

Thanks!

I will have to get them wet and advise!
