So I've got mine on order and just received the latest Consumer Reports magazine. A 2/100 in reliability? Is that a joke?

Yeah I saw that too. Pretty terrible review on the ‘21 models.

ever since 2014/2015 GM vehicles have gone down in rated reliability, more electronics+different core software=more problems
same goes if you purchase a LT base versus a LTZ with all the bells & whistles the LT base is going to be the most reliable.

No matter what they say…CR will publish what they want and tailor the results. Rember based in Connecticut,,,,,beginning of the Tree Hugger movement for the NorthEast. If its not a Saab, Volvo or Audi, then they don’t want any part of it.

Wow. That is pathetically bad. The score is so low, it makes it seem like CR has some type of vendetta against GM. Were the Tahoe and Escalade rated the same? What was their reasoning behind the score?

I've owned 2 Jaguars, let alone this Yukon. Nobody had been on the bottom more than JLR. Know what? Both Jags I've had have been excellent so far, with service (What little needed...) far better than GM.
As far as the Yukon goes? Not a lick of trouble in 9 months. But glad I have the Dmax.

Our '21 yukon has been great so far. Closing in on 8K miles and nothing whatsoever that would make me think it has any reliability issues

Anyone who thinks CR is an unbiased, neutral entity that tests stuff out of the goodness of their hearts is mistaken. They are in it for the money. They had $260M+ in revenue last year, $230M of it in subscriptions. They make that kind of money by convincing people that they have their best interests in mind. I personally believe they see what the masses like and report tests supporting the trends so people will buy their “reports” so they can feel good about what they bought.

If that were their motivation why would they have just given the SUVs that outsell all of the other competition combined a low rating?

I've only bought GM products my whole life - and will continue to only buy from Ford or GM. That said, its pretty clear the first year of this generation trucks, like the first year or two of the last generation trucks has had significant issues. That is on the manufacture, not any magazine. There have been plenty of GM products that have earned praised from CR.

I believe the CR results. My "first" 2021 Yukon was a lemon. My 2nd 2021 is hands down better. It was build a year after my first. GM did improve quality during that time. I would strongly advise not to purchase a 1st year model....

Yes, the GM SUV’s sell more than the other large SUV’s but keep in mind there is a very large group of people in this country are against large SUV’s in general and want nothing more than to see them disappear.

Don’t get me wrong, there are obviously issues with this generation of vehicles and calling GM out on it is justified. I am not trying to defend GM at all.

My comment was on Consumer Reports in general. Their ratings don’t hold much water with me. I’ve seen friends and family religiously buy everything based on what CR rated as the “best” only to frequently get a piece of crap that doesn’t last.

I am willing to bet all these people that "hate" suv's either have no kids or no friends or no family
i'd love to see the detailed dynamics of that survey.....

Interestingly enough, JD Powers has the 2021s ranked this way.

Note the earlier ratings. I’ll try to find reliability.

I've noticed in reading CR for a good while they seem to do most of their testing on the high end products. In the automotive line those are the high option machines that usually do have more problems, more stuff to go wrong.

Keep in mind that the older cars are still rated compared against new cars for their reliability ratings, so it doesn't mean they're unreliable relative to other vehicles their age, only that they're less reliable than new, statistically.

I believe CR.... I had a 2015 Yukon Denali... The Transmission failed/replaced 2x. Fuel rail system replaced, steering column 2x, 2 valves bent, and after repair burnning oil. Finally GM bought it back for 69k but I had it for 4 years and about 75k miles on it. Strange as it sound I loved my Yukon!

Got the 69K check and bought a fully loaded 2020 2500HD Duramax Denali. Yesterday I notice oil in my drive way! LOL LOL . My first diesel and I love it.
Just placed an order for 2022 Yukon Denali and now debating to order it with the duramax or not. Hummm..
