One of the mode indicator lights is on all the time (with ignition on) on my '04. I would think yours would be the same.

Yup. Always on when running.

Is the yellow light on the 2wd button supposed to be on during the day. I only just noticed this cause the back light was not working so I replaced the 4x4 switch. The yellow light lights up when the lights are on in the night,, but during the day the 2wd light does not turn on. Can anyone confirm if it should be lite during the day.

When I turn on the ignition, all of the mode lights cycle through in sequence, then the current mode is illuminated. Kind of like how the cluster idiot lights turn on for a few seconds.

trying covering something around it and see if the led is just dim during the day making it hard to see

That’s your pcv hose. You can use regular rubber fuel hose if you don’t want to buy the formed one.

Got the new valve body and wiring harness back into the 4L60E. Went to take her for a test drive to get the trans temp up to check for P1870 code/symptoms. Test drive didn't last long - noticed rotational noise coming from both front wheels that increased with speed and turning. My first thought was wheel bearings, but I replaced those less than 500 miles back.

Question - can bad front axles give the same symptoms as wheel bearings ? It's not the brakes, the sound doesn't stop when applying them.

If I decide to replace them, what is the best brand to go with ?
