Edit: Yukon Denali's

Checked updates on Donlen and saw this Footnote for 2021 Yukons ...

"5. – Immediate order cutoff date communicated overnight from GM on 1/24/21"

https://www.donlen.com/buildstart-trucks-gm.html

Is this a legitimate source of information? What do you think will happen to existing orders? Mine was Event 3400 TPW 2/1 as of this past Friday. Ugh ...

Not surprising, I was told last week by my dealer, if you want one, you better find one already built or in transit, other wise things were looking pretty grim...

Sounds like no more 2021 fleet orders since they can't keep up right now. That doesn't look like a production halt. I'm sure your order is fine.

Does anyone know if this CHIP issue is affecting Cadillac Esky Orders/deliveries too? They could be diverting what precious chip stock they have to keep higher profit Escalade orders flowing at the expense of Tahoe/Yukon....

But suburbans can still be ordered!?
They use essentially the same parts

was told today 1/27. That my tahoe build was pushed back to 2/8 and no heavy duty trailering package. (NHT)?
Overwhelmingly disappointed.
Looks like I’ll be waiting on a 2022.

Delco made chips in Kokomo, IN until they closed it down. Weeds growing in the parking lots now. That's the way she goes.

According to GM Authority it just looks like they are halting 2021 orders only. Production will continue on existing orders in the system (a former Navy shipmate of mine is a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer at the Arlington Plant). The order bank opens for 2022 in August for the Tahoe, and I assume for the Yukon as well. I'm sure a shortage of items described above is playing into that decision.

I have been admiring a 2021 AT4 for a while.

I first saw one in person at a local dealer (not my closest, but one of the most aggressive price wise dealers, volume over top dollar).

When I was first looking, maybe 1.5 months ago, they were all pretty loaded and this dealer was setting out the door pricing at about $5K off MSRP. I just looked and all three he has now are priced at just under $75K, one of those was formerly priced at $66K.

They clearly see a squeeze on availability coming.

When would build-to-orders normally have been cut off for the Tahoe and Yukon? I'm very early in my buying process -- haven't test-driven yet, but doing my research.

Based on this thread, it seems like now is probably one of the worst times to be a buyer, with dealer supply constrained by production halt meaning that any leverage to work a deal is limited, and if I can't find what I want on the lot, there's no ability to build-to-order. Furthermore, if they are able to re-activate the production-line, it may not be until maybe March or April at the earliest, if at all.

Have I got all of that about right?

If the Air Suspension and Max Trailering package are the affected features, why wouldn't they continue building models which don't include those features?

I would wait until dealers have units sitting on the lots. Mine is at service again for 7th time. Let them work out the bugs first. Plus, I HIGHLY recommend driving the truck you intend to purchase. Note the issues people have mentioned on these forums and check them during test drive. Make dealer agree to correct any defects before signing.. my two cents.

Sad to say, but this is classic first model year GM blues.

That has not been my experience. 3k miles on my Tahoe and not a single issue. Any forum for any new vehicle, first model year or not, will have people reporting issues.

Yep and there are lots of us on multiple forums.

Oh dang! Please tell me your experiences haven't been THAT bad. Y'all have me a little worried now, lol.
So far mine has been to the dealer three times and out of service for repairs a total of 35 days. It is running ok for now but mine is in the danger window for the bad batch of valve springs. We are in current litigation with GM. We are using our states lemon law to get out of this vehicle with a buy back or a cash settlement to make up what we would lose in trade in for another model.
