I understand that the 2015 may not have the best reliability, I am from a price point finding lots of 2017s in my budget, can the group advise on your real ownership issues? Are the typically major issues with this year that would cause you to look other for a different year?

Thanks,
Tim

There aren’t too many common issues with those as some of hiccups from the earlier models have been corrected by 2017.

So, just like with any vehicle, a lot of it comes down to what kind of upkeep the thing has received. Some people trash theirs in 50K miles, some keep up and maintain them well and are still running/looking great at 150K.

Personally, I don’t necessarily always go for the newest one. I much rather go for the one that I feel has been cared for and maintained, even if that means going for a year or two older and maybe even with a bit more miles.

Good luck with your search.

you should be fine with a 17, unless it is really low miles just go into it knowing you probably will have to do basic maintenance, flush all fluids, inspect everything real close, if there is a powertrain warranty option I would take it just to be on the safe side, I like to buy my vehicles at about 5 years old -just broke in, not broken down. Plus they have already taken the major depreciation hit.

i have an early '15 w/ none of the major issues reported by others. guess i got lucky.

big thing...is make sure to test drive it on many road conditions & varying speeds. also bring some other people w/ you(preferably ones that have ears sensitive to pressure ;) )

'17-'18 will be more likely to have some warranty left.

& i think '17-up gives you hdmi vs the composite video input for rear entertainment

I turned 100K miles on my 2016 LT just a few minutes ago.

Besides a A/C Condenser [which was a major issue on the 2015-2017 Tahoe-Yukon] nothing but plain old regular maintenance. Still get 24-25 MPG if it is all highway. I only use 87 octane fuel. I have no complaints whatsoever. Plan on putting a lot more miles on it.

Make sure you get ALL service records. It should be serviced every 5K miles. If possible have a independent mechanic [or Mobile mechanic] check it out from top to bottom just to be sure.

I traded out of a 17 LS into a 19 LT only because the price was more than right. Basically, I got a deal that was too good to be true. If the deal had not been that good, I would still be in the 17.

Another issue to be aware of is the shark fin antenna. It has a tendency for the connection to get wet, which makes the GPS and compass wonky. Finally, get a good pre purchase inspection and a CarFax report. This will help reduce the potential for purchasing someone else’s problem child.
