Currently living in Germany for the next 3 years, and have my 16’ Yukon XL Denali. Driver tail light started going dim and I almost didn’t pass inspection because of that. After researching it I learned that it ain’t just a bulb replacement, it’s a whole new light replacement. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing for new ones, even fixed OEM units. A I opted for these.

Installed driver side, checked to see if it worked, and it did. Looked amazing! Buttoned that side up and excitedly moved to the passenger side. Installed passenger side, checked to see if it worked, worked for a one brake check, and then both lights cut out. I had my daughter hiding my phone recording because I wanted to see what reverse looked like. Unfortunately my phone died from the cold and low battery, and so did both lights lol! Nothing about them work on both sides now. Checked fuses for both sides and they are good. Went and disconnected the passenger side to see if the driver side was still working and it wasn’t. I am at a lost right now. Ran out of daylight to mess around anymore with it. I’m going to reinstall the OEM lights tomorrow and see what happens.

anything else to look for?

Thanks

I would do a Goggle search. There is a youtube which shows how to fix failing tail lights. You look for a crack in the ribbon and solder it. Good luck. There are a couple of threads floating around that may pull up on a Google search about the Cadillac tail lights install that may shed some light on your issues.

There’s a couple threads on this. But yes. YouTube will show u exactly where to cut the light open and solder it. Then seal it back up. Ended up fixing mine 2 weeks after buying the truck. Fairly simple if you’re handy. There also some services on eBay for cheap but the turn around time is like a week without your tail light

It’s an aftermarket light. Brand new. On the ground they work. When installed they don’t. FML lol! Went to put in the OEM lights and now they don’t work when they definitely did before.
Both lights worked as I went through unplugging and plugging in lights to try and figure it what the deal is.
I’m really frautrated now because I can’t leave the house. Told my son last night when he brought home his report card we would go get some good burgers for him getting a 3.98 in the first quarter. Desperately trying to make these lights work so I can take him.

Update:

3 beers later and I figured it was sitting right. Looked at the old dirt marks on the plug and to see where the new one was hitting and he was about 1/4” short. Trimmed a 1/4” off the female end and all is well now. Looks great!
