I'm ready to pull trigger on Foose Whip 6 for my 03 Z71 in 22". Has anyone done the pros and cons of 22 vs 20? I was going to go 305/45/22 tires, without lowering i feel this fills wheel wells out nicely. One of my biggest reasons for wondering about 20 vs 22 is i live in Edmonton Alberta and our roads are ok but definitely not the best.
When it comes to braking etc is there a big diff in rotational mass between the 2? Its not a strong performer as is but i don't want it to be undriveable.

I have the factory 17"s with winter rubber for the other 10 months of Alberta weather...haha!

Not sure about the noticeable dif. btw 20 or 22...I know that my old rims caused an increase in pad wear (no lowered, stock escalade). I agree, 22" looks great with stock suspension...the denali gets a set of used BOSS 311's next weekend , i have not yet picked tires (but they will be new Hankooks)...leaning towards 285/45/r22...ill ask my guy

When I went down to OEM 20s from 22s, it was like buying a BBK, a tune, and a shift kit.

hey im from edm too i know how bad our roads are and i am confused too, i have 20s and they are great, but i want bigger i was thinking 22s or 24s but im not sure if it will be worth the cost especially for the limited months we can use them, i am curious as to why you found the 20s so much better Eagle unless you put smaller tires too, was this the case? it definately has me thinking of just keeping what i have

I like racing the guys that roll big chrome wheels :D Some nice forged 22s aren't too heavy but I'm afraid the salt you guys get will destroy them or cause a huge concern while driving. Some oem cadillac/gmc 22s aren't too heavy in chrome, or find some 22x8.5s in chrome that weigh a bit less than others for the least change in braking/acceleration. Rotational mass is huge in these trucks I love my powdercoated oem 20s compared to a heavy ass chrome 22 in this climate. I upgraded my front rotors to a 14" with stock calipers and would suggest the same, easy upgrade and not much money for the safety benefit.

If you decide to get rims this year try www.soratwheels.ca

They are out of Vancouver and his price to my door was 1200 dollars cheaper than our local Kal tire!

20's you can probably get away with factory brakes, 22's will need aftermarket brakes for stopping.

So, you're saying it was an improvement?

oh hell yeah. It was a combo of things: weight, height and width.

but mostly the huge reduction in weight. I must have lost 50lbs per corner.

The truck actually brakes HARD now. I felt the ABS the other day for the first time ever. I don't think I could have responded to an emergency braking situation on the 22s.
